PokerPages.com Industry Index Shows Continued Growth

New index reveals record growth for poker in 2006

Wednesday 29th March 2006

PokerPages.com has launched the PokerPages.com Industry Index (PPII), a new indicator designed to help track the popularity of poker worldwide.

The PPII data is based on over $1,000,000,000 in live tournament buy-ins and over 1,100,000 tournament entries since 2000 – more than any other source in the world.

The key Buy-In Index measures the changes in total poker tournament buy-in dollars. Bt paying attention to this index the public can gain insight to changes in the size of the poker market.

The PPII also includes two other measures; the Entrants Index, which measures changes in the number of tournament entries, and the Average Buy-In Per Entry Index, which measures changes in the average buy-in stakes for tournaments. Together they provide additional insight into what is driving changes in the poker industry.

The PPII will be a key indicator in monitoring the success of poker, which has grown over 400% since 2001 and will also look at the main drivers of industry growth.
