In the UK, leading fundraising firm The Weather Lottery has announced the addition of a pair of well-known English soccer clubs to its new FCBetz.com online gaming brand.
The Doncaster-based company raises funds for non-profit organisations such as sports clubs, schools and universities and will now provide a full package of online gaming products to Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County in addition to operating lotteries for the clubs under its FC Lotto created especially for the football market.
The multi-year contracts follow the initial signing of Championship side Coventry City last week with The Weather Lottery revealing that negotiations are continuing with ‘several other major football clubs’ regarding similar deals.
“Derby County meets all the criteria we are looking for in our commercial partners,” said Tim Razzall, Chairman for The Weather Lottery
“It has a strong fan base, an illustrious history and its ambitious owners have realistic English Premier League prospects.
“We are delighted to become its gaming and lottery partner and look forward to a successful and profitable relationship with the club and its fans in the coming seasons.”
The contracts will begin from next weekend with The Weather Lottery committed to providing in-stadia and online gaming to the teams’ fan bases. As an added incentive for supporters of Derby County, the operator will be giving away free tickets to the first 1,000 people signing up at FCBetz.com.
“Again, The Weather Lottery has signed a contract with an important football club in Sheffield Wednesday,” said Razzall.
“The club has a strong history and a strong presence locally and nationally and is, we hope, likely to be moving up through the leagues in the near future.
“Once again, we are delighted to become the gaming and lottery partner and look forward to a successful and profitable relationship with Sheffield Wednesday and its fans in the coming seasons.”
