BAFTA-winning film about a bomb disposal unit in Iraq is fancied to take home next weekend’s top award.

This year’s edition of the Academy Awards will be announced at a star-studded event in Hollywood next weekend with two of the year’s biggest films battling it out for the prestigious Best Picture prize.
The 82nd Academy Awards will be hosted by actors Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin at the Kodak Theatre on March 7 with films The Hurt Locker and Avatar favourites for the Best Picture accolade.
Released in September of 2008, The Hurt Locker tells the story of a United States Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal team during the war in Iraq and features an all-star cast including Jeremy Renner, David Morse and Anthony Mackie.
