Celebrity poker players : Ben Affleck

Friday 30th January 2009

While Affleck is best known as a director, actor and film screenwriter he has been involved in professional poker for some time now. Renowned as a "ladies man" he has had high-profile relationships with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez to name but a couple. While he has appeared in such films as Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Changing Lanes and Daredevil his career has switched to poker in more recent times and he is a regular player at the World Series of poker event.

As the number of celebrity poker players continues to grow, it is Ben Affleck and Matt Damon (his close friend) who are credited by many as making poker attractive to the legion of celebrity players on the scene today. While many celebrity poker players are wheeled out in the pursuit of marketing and promotional opportunities, Ben Affleck is actually one of the better players from the celebrity scene and more than capable of holding his own at the likes of the World Series of poker.

Much of his time today is spent in the political activist scene and he is a regular contributor of both his time and his money to various charitable organisations. His ambition for later years would appear to be a seat in Congress although whether this is possible remains to be seen!

To date Ben Affleck has won a total of $356,400 in his poker pursuits.
