Casinos could soon be joining the drive to save the earth, starting with a new eco-friendly poker table, which is to be unveiled at this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP).
EGM Green's new product is made from 98 per cent sustainable materials and is assembled using water-based adhesives, according to Poker News.
The wood used is certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council and the paints are formaldehyde free in a bid to reduce consumption of natural resources by the gaming industry.
EGM Gaming is also planning to donate one of its "green" tables to the winner of the WSOP main event.
Eric Hansel, EGM Green president, commented: "EGM Green is positioned to help drive sustainable change by offering green products developed for casinos."
This year's final table for the main event will be delayed until November in hopes that it will build the drama and allow the "November 9" time to study each others play, obtain sponsorship and prepare.
