Pacman Munches Through $20,000 In Casino Chips

Saturday 24th May 2008

As is becoming the norm these days, another sports star has fallen into the trap of gambling and over extended his finances to say the least. Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones has responded to a legal case against him and repaid a $20,000 debt to a Las Vegas casino together with fees of $1,675. While his debt was no where near the $200,000 Charles Barkley is alleged to owe another casino it seems to be a sign of the times.

It appears that Jones took delivery of the casino chips back in September last year and despite repeated requests for payment it has taken nearly 10 months to settle the debt. Unlike some places in the US, Nevada takes debts to casinos very seriously and such debts are classified as criminal bad check cases. This means that once the claim has been lodged with the authorities it becomes a matter for the state legal team who will ensure that some kind of arrangement is made with the party involved.

Despite a number of attempts by the sports unions to warn their members about the dangers of over spending on the tables it seems that many are ignoring their advice. Which sports star will be next to hit the headlines?
