While Ben Affleck has had a serious interest in Poker for many years he has only really started to believe that he could make a name for himself over the last few years. It is rumoured that this boost in Affleck’s interest and confidence can be traced back to good friend and fellow Poker player Matt Damon who famously played the lead role in the Poker movie ‘Rounders’.
It seems that Ben Affleck took his interest to a new level by employing the teaching skills of Amir Vahidy, but unfortunately he did not quite click and suffered an early knock out in his first major Poker tournament. However, he seems to have had a little more luck under the tuition of well know Poker professional Annie Duke. His first tournament under her stewardship brought him first place and a $356,000 pot!
While a pot of that considerable size should not be ignored there are some in the sport who believe that he has no chance of making the top league of Poker players. However, Ben Affleck seems to have other ideas and will be putting his name forward for a whole host of tournaments in the future. Whether he will have time to do his movies and be a Poker professional remains to be seen.
