Its quite easy for a Meteorologist to predict if it is going to snow.

If you know anything about weather you either need strong northerly or north/easterly wind for it to snow, or a warm front to hit very cold air. Those combinations dont happen too often because most of our weather comes from Atlantic.

Scrotes kind of right although it's more complex than that and snow can and does fall on a westerly if the atmospheric conditions are right. The biggest snowfalls this country has ever seen have all come from the atlantic

3 crucial things need to be in place:

Subzero dewpoint
sub -5 air at 850pha
528dam thickness or below across the country

The 'snow' in bethnal green was rime deposit or ice crystals from the freezing fog or dew filled air. Certainly not snow as it is physically and scientifically impossible for it to have snowed anywhere in England in the last week

Incidently predicting snowfall is the most complex thing a meteorologist has to forecast. Far be it the easiest. There a multitude of variables. Kind of like poker I guess
