Default New Shop Items

We are thinking of introducing a couple of new shop items:

Firstly some customized poker.co.uk playing cards. These are plastic cards and very good quality. We are in negotiations with a bunch of suppliers at the moment to see if we can order some bulk. They will cost around 500 vChips a pack.

Secondly, we are thinking of introducing a cash-back deal. Say £10 for 1500 vChips.

What do people think of this? What other items would you like to see?

Note: You earn vChips by posting: 3 for a new thread, 2 for a reply, and a few percentiles of a vChip for each time a thread you created is read.

You can also win them on the vBookie. As always if you have any ideas for vBookie events suggest them in this thread

Playing Cards - Good Idea

Vchips for money? not so sure. You are then saying that Vchips have a real money value which can be used for gambling, wouldn't this caue any legal issues? Maybe just me reading to much into it but just a thought.

alexross, let's just say more than 76 vChips

jglenny, as we aren't selling the vChips for money in the first place, the payment is seen more as a payment for making posts rather than anything else. Therefore I don't think there should be a problem with this from a legal standpoint.

However, if we sold the vChips in the first place, say 1500 for £10 then I could see this causing a problem.

Yeah im not sure on the whole legal side but im sure it could be easily checked out. £10 for 1500 isn't that much but do you think some people will abuse this and post unnecessarily?

We're offering 5 vChips per new post, so someone would have to create 300 new threads to earn a tenner. I think that's pretty unlikely, but if someone were to sign up and start spamming all over the place we'd revoke their account.

Hopefully the 1,500 target isn't too hard to reach for existing members? It's probably a little tricky by just posting alone, but coupled with some wise betting on the vBookie it should be possible.

We may also introduce vChip awards for the highest monthly scores on the arcade - though this is also just an idea at the moment...

edit: 5 vChips per new post (not just 3)

Not a bad idea although it would take a very long time to make build any substantial cash amount but hey, look at the Nectar scheme, it cant be any worse than that.

The only disadvantage to such a scheme is that whilst people may spam it may also result in people talking about absolute rubbish such as what they are having for tea etc..I may even have been guilty of it myself for the past few weeks in attempt to keep things ticking over on the threads

Anyway, how about introducing a recommendations scheme where posts are given recommendations.

I see you already have something similar in place but not in conjunction with the v chips.

And we could always deduct Chips for deliberate spam posts like James admits too!!

The playing cards idea sounds good to me. How long until these will be available?
