hi all
i am a small time online player and also play in my local casino poker room a few times a week with good results here in the northeast
My watering hole choice is the local social club and i have been approached by the clubs secrtary about the possibly of holding a small poker tornament in the club on ones of the clubs slacker nights (ie tues/weds or sunday night)
Now i have researched what posts have been listed here in the past and get conflicting information
1. This is a social club, a private members CIU club and therefore not classed as a pub. Ran by committee as opposed to landlord/lady? Does this chnage what can and cant be done if hosting a poker night ?
2. Does the rules of playing for points/league apply?
3. Are there any updates to the £10 cap buy in events that have been discussed ?
4. If the club were to issue prizes (ie spirits/beer tokens) does this change anything legally ?
5. No rake will be charged or entrance fee applied to the monies collected - 100% distrubution of collected funds
Is there any problems with doing this ?
6. What are the possible issues of hosting the night regardless of legal or otherwise ?
thanks in advance guys

Friends Of Poker UK Ltd
Christ, what's with all the stupid friends of poker united and Loury spam.... sod off and advertise your sites elsewhere, cos no one here cares.
Paul, someone will be along to answer your question properly. Or alternatively go into the Live Poker League section of this site and send a PM to LPL Mike as he runs the Manchester and South West Live Poker League and should be able to answer your questions.
Good luck.
