Played 4 tournaments today, starting with a bank roll of just £6.04. (Found out this is how much a $10+$1 tournament would cost, and deposited the exact amount).
Played the following STTs (Single Table Tournaments) - 10 players per game. All Pot Limit games as I prefer them now to No Limit games. Also, I am planning on attending an offline tournament very soon so like to play the format they use. Here's the results for today: 1. $10 + $1 - Finished 3rd. Prize = $20.00 (£10.9 2. $10 + $1 - Finished 3rd. Prize = $20.00 (£10.9 3. £10 + £1 - Finished 2nd. Prize = £30.00 4. £30 + £3 - Finished 2nd. Prize = £90 So, managed to turn my paltry £6.04 in to £85.88. Not bad for an evenings work The £30 + £3 game was incredibly tense. I had my heart in my mouth at several points. Luckily a nice bluff pulled off when I needed it. I even managed to catch the card I needed on the river from an all-in position where I looked certain to lose! It's normally me that gets the bad beats! Felt sorry for my opponent at that point, and apologised for my good fortune, but that's poker I suppose Last edited by monkeymagic : 25th August 2004 at 12:46 AM. Reason: grammar |

Well done mate!
If you can maintain that level consistently you could play for a living. I find single table tournaments very difficult and should probably practice them more since they’re basically the same format as the final table of a multi-table tourney (so can’t be avoided). |

Hi FreeZey
Thanks for the kind words I'm the opposite to you - find Single Table Tournaments a lot easier than multi-table tourneys. Even though MTTs are made up of lots of STTs, I always find if I make it to the last 20 out of say 200, that I am usually lagging pretty far behind the chip leaders. Infact, I am usually hanging on by the skin on my teeth at this point! On the rare occassion that I do make a final table, I am so far behind that I can usually only last a few hands. Playing an STT is easier for me, as it's easier to keep track of all your opponents at once, and see where exactly you are, when you need to make a move and so on. I find it's very easy to make the last 3 in a STT (especially on William Hill! If you've not tried that for STTs then I recommend you do - seems a lot easier than a lot of other rooms).. You usually only have to play 3 or 4 good hands (with no bad beats occuring hopefully!) - the other players help you out by knocking each other out. There are usually at least 2 or 3 fish even in a £30 + £3 game. However, my heads-up play still sucks (seems to be a hell of a lot of bluffing going on), hence no 1st places for a while |
