Default July Finals Day-Report

White Lion hosted our June monthly leaderboard finals day, 60 players turned up from around the regions to try and win the £1,000 monthly prize fund!

Even though Yate & Chipping Sodbury league has only been going only for a short while they had a very strong prescence at todays final.

First player out went to Colin Warrington of Dursley holding K 10.. his two pair couldn't beat local player Rob Jago's Straight!

Mike Hopes of Yate became the early chip leader after a 3-way pot.

Mike Hopes -8 8
Joe Dooner-A 9
Dan Tarr-A K

Dan Tarr made a small raise with A K and was called by both players.

Flop A 9 8

then came the bet...raise and re-raise all-in as all the players got their chips into the middle, with Mike winning with trip 8's!

Mike Hopes early chip leader with over 30k

Jason Bartlett from Bristol only just recently stepped of the plane from Vegas after playing in the $1500 event at the WSOP found his KK running into AA and Jason making an early exit.

Helen Price from Yate and Chipping Sodbury had become chip leader at break with over 54K in chips after having a bizzare run of cards! Helen was dealt QQ only for there to be a dealer error..very next hand Helen got AA in the BB but everyone folded around, then two hands later she found AA and this time got a willing caller with A9 and managed to get all the chips into the pot!

Helen Price chip leader at break with 54k in chips

Other players doing well...

Lee Hersey-30K
Darren Bartlett-42K
Tom McCarthy-27K
William Hei - 43K

Neil Grima from Bristol who sat at the Final table at the Broadway Casino and won the Cheltenham final came up short this month when his pocket Q's couldn't hold up.

Final Table..

Seat_1 Mike Errington Gloucester 53K
Seat_2 Will Lee Bath 35K
Seat_3 Jon Poole Bristol 33K
Seat_4 Lee Hersey Yate 26K
Seat_5 Chris Armstrong Yate 96K
Seat_7 Trev Brooking Bristol 22K
Seat_8 Helen Price Yate 70K
Seat_9 Julian Chaussee Bristol 107K

Great Final table which would go on for just under 3 hours, Cheltenham the only region not represented at this months final table.

Darren Bartlett out of the Bush pub in Bristol was our unlucky money bubble, even though the players had agreed to give Darren £25 from 1st place prize money.

9th Place-Darren Bartlett

Trev Brooking a regular at the final table was next out in 8th Place, he pushed for 30K and was called by Will Lee

Trev Brooking 10 10 vs A K Will Lee

Flop 9 A 2 Turn 6 River J

8th Place -Trev Brooking -£25

Chris Armstrong also another player out of the Yate league and a regular at the White Lion was next out, after losing 95% of his chips in a previous hand, left with only 5K he was knocked out by fellow yate player Lee Hersey.

7th Place - Chris Armstrong -£25

Will Lee another long term member out of the Bath League and once runner up in the monthly league finals ran his AQ into the BB of Helen Price who was holding AA and not for the first time today! no help on the flop..turn and river saw Lee out in 6th place

6th Place - Will Lee - £25

Julian Chaussee first time to the monthly finals and chip leader for most of the final table, pushed for 45K in early position and called by Jon Poole

Julian Chaussee - K 9
Jon Poole - A J

Flop 9 A 4 Turn A River K

5th Place - Julian Chaussee - £50

Chip Counts - Blinds 5K -10K

Helen Price -180K
Mike Errington - 60K
Jon Poole - 180K
Lee Hersey - 80K

Family Pot!
All 4 players limped into this pot ...

Flop A 4 6 all checked around... Turn 2 all checked around ... river 4

Lee openend the betting with 20K and was re-raised for all his chips!...around 40K more

Can you guess the hands....?
highlight to see

Lee - 10-4
Jon - 2-2

4th Place - Lee Hersey - £75

Down to three players but very soon it would be only 2!

Jon Poole and Mike Errington got involved in this unraised hand

Jon Poole J 8 suited Spades
Mike Errington 5 3

Flop 2s A 4 checked around Turn-9s Checked around River-3s

Mike Errington bet 20k and was re-raised all-in by Jon..Mike holding the straight called but was beaten by the flush!

3rd Place- Mike Errington - £100

Heads Up....

Helen Price -200K
Jon Poole -300K

Helen Price who plays out of the Yate League and a regular at the White Lion was sitting on the final table for the first time but not only that she has now gone further than any other female in the LPL's history..this was held by Lisa Mumford who finished 3rd in a previous final.

Total Games Played 42
1st Place Finishes 3
Top 5 Finishes 13

Heads up was never going to been a long drawn out battle as both players had agreed to split the money and were playing for the honour of the sheild and bragging rights!

Final hand

Helen K Q
Jon 9 8

Helen Price becomes the first female to win the monthly Finals in almost 3 years of LPL history!

Oh well done, reverse sexism only adding to the gender stereotype. All of that work by the Suffragettes for nothing... But enough politics! Seriously folks, the QQ/AA/AA run by Helen was a joy to watch (although on the first QQ I think she could have killed me at first when I called the misdeal!) and she raked the chips in with the sort of good grace some players can only dream of.

Thanks to Mike for another great run event.

One last thing... congrats to Trev on making the final table. With 20 players left he was down to about 4k (blinds at 800/1600), a few orbits later he's up to 25k or so. This also earnt him a king size Twix (or "Xtra" as I believe they're now marketed) in one of the world's most extreme last longer prop bets EVER! When will the gambling madness end??

Well done to all who made the final table, especially to Helen - and not because she's female, because she's a good poker player! Lol

Only a bit of friendly rivalry Chickenman, which I think is allowed seing as we're out numbered by about 10 to 1 on Finals day

I don't think they'd be so quick to put the ladies down if they remembered that their beer was served by a woman all day!

LOL

Haha... you make it sound like I'm included in with the ladies.

Note: no follow up posts making the joke "Well you certainly aren't one of the men" or derivatives, thanks.
