I meet Kris Evans over at Caesars to register for the $235 at 12pm, no Dan this mornin after his drunkin 'donkaments' at the flamingo last nite...but thats another story!
Slightly down on the numbers yesterday which i had wrong it was 624, today is 440....I win the first hand..which is not always a good start but its a foot in the right direction, i feel alot more comfortable today and in my first four sessions up until the 40min break i am up to around 17k which is alot better than yesterday. After the 40 min break a new guy comes to the table and starts telling us the pocket 2's story... First hand of the tournament blinds 25/50 ..button enters into virgin pot with a 1k raise SB folds BB calls..flop is K J 7.. BB shoves all in for 6.5K and the button instant calls..he shows pocket 2's BB looks on n horror while picking himself up from the floor ...he was holding Q 4 Kris goes out ofter the break while nursing a 5K stack.....i am around 19k but just about to blow up big style when a J on the flop giving me top pair..UTG bets 800 i raise to 1600 he pushes for 8.2K more ...now in 99% of cases i am folding but for some strange reason i make a donk call ..he shows pocket J's and i am now short stack on 8k ..i get back up to around 11K but lose 3.7k with A J ...final hand was my AK vs A 10 in a 11k pot a 10 on the turn see's me finish around 180ish...feeling very disapointed to mess it up on one stupid call i now need a drink very quickly! We meet up with Dan and head over the road to 'Jimmy Buffetts' for a few drinks...later i make my way to the Flamingo to play the $1/2 i arrive around 9 and grind out $50 in 3 hours of play ..just a very bad table made up of Vegas regulars who were looking for drunkin tourists to fleece...i buyin for $200 and cash out for $250.. No tournaments today ...tomorrow i will play the $330 at caesars with Dan .... |

Its 5:30am Saturday morning and i have just walked through the door....no tournies today so i gave myself a lie in until 10:30...after grabbing coffee i head over to the Flamingo to play $1/2, its a fun game we have a great table and its not untl Dan turns up that i noticed i have been playing 5 hours....to be honest at this moment i can't remember to many hands i had pckt 6's on a A 6 7 flop and got paid ...
A button raise when holding K J flop K J 7 i bet $30 he shoves and shows AK no help on turn or river and i double through ![]() Also had pckt A's 3x but no flop has i did the standard aces raise of $25 I bought in for $200 and cashed $444 After food and registration i went back to the hotel with intentions of hitting the flamingo later..but fell alsleep on the bed only to be woken by a text from Steve Found who arrived tonight. I meet Steve at the Rio and we stay for a couple of beers then moved to the Palms to try and play some cash games. The game was $1/3 NL and its a wild table about four hands in i try and bluff a guy off a pot when he puts in a weak bet ...with 4 diamonds on the board i raise $50 only to see 4 players fold and he called the bet with no diamond!!| WOW Few more hands in... New York guy (he is the guy to my right) puts in a straddle of $6 i look down to see AA i make it $25 utg everyone folds ..he re-raises i instant shove..he stares and asks if i have aces ...to which he showed me KK ...i say good fold ....but he hasn't and calls! so i have a nice double up When he leaves his space is filled by allin guy!..even though i don't get any chips it makes for a fun game. Next hand i pick up 88 ...'money guy'(he has a $1,000 in chips raises to $15 Foundy calls and i flat call ...flop is 8 2 2 'money guy' makes it $40 Steve Folds i flat call, turn A he makes it $60 i flat call river is rag he checks so i make it a $100 he calls with an 8 Me an money guy clash one more time when i pick up AA again ...flop is 10 10 7 we both check river is 7 he bets $50 i flat call River J he tanks for ages and makes it $100 ...i ask the dealer if i am allowed to show him what i have...im allowed...my turn to go to the tank..but i make the call and he has A high... I buy in for $250 and cash for $571 ......now i have to be up in 5 hours to play at Caesars with Dan so my next report won't be until Sunday! |

So its 106 outside and i wake up with a sore throat and a stinkin cold...it also doesn't help that i have had fours hours sleep last nite....
Caesars today and even though the last two tournaments haven't gone so well i am optimistic that i will run good in at least one before next friday Over 600 players and i get seated in position one on table 53 which is my least favorite, i am also surrounded by guys in sun glasses and hoodies ...who are all disscussing various events they have played in the WSOP.. Last hand before the first break me and 'hoodie guy' get involved in a big hand... I have Pkt 8's flop 8 9 K he bet out 1200 i flat call ..there is a spade draw on the board so by flat calling i might get him to think i am chasing...its also very risky but has a maxium reward if he has the King ..turn is harmless 4 he instant shoves..i have him covered by 2K...players are now on a 15min break and it takes me 11 minutes of that break to finally call him, all the time we are having a bit of banter between us...and even though i put him on AK i feel uneasy about making the call..he shows pkt 9's for a set ..... I last for another 2 levels before pushing 2k with KQ and losing to A J ....Dan however goes very deep not sure what position he went out but it must of been close to the money! I wander over to the Flamingo at around 3ish to play $1/2 cash...it seems the British have landed as the room seems full of televison pro's playing $1/2..even though i recognize them the names i can't remember. I buyin for $200 the table is quiet and very very tight..i sit for three hours before i get a big hand.. don't ask me why but i limp with aces in a family pot of 9 players flop is 2 A 7 all rainbow one guy bets out $15 and 3 callers i just flat call; turn is a 7 giving me a full house everyone check around to a finish guy who bets out $45 everyone folds and i flat call ....river is a brick he instant shoves i call he has pkt 2's for a smaller full house ![]() later the pot is raised i look down at AA and re-raise to $45 he calls the board is all rags we both check flop a king he makes it $30 and i call ..river is a brick he makes it $60 i min re-raise he folds .. I leave around midnight i bought in for $200 cash out for $436..... Tomorrow will be the Binions $500 and a nice trip down town to freemont street.. old town Vegas... |

Good updates - keep them coming please.
It sounds like you are cleaning up in the cash games but handing the money back in the tournaments. Let's hope things switch around for you when you play the WSOP. Good luck to all playing out there. I wish I was there. |

Finally the cash streak came to an end ...quiet day today no tournaments so i wander down to the Rio to see what is going on...
I meet up with Dan and we make our way over to the Flamingo to play a little cash...my luck continues when early in i double up with AA vs KK but within 10 hands my winning profit disapeared with a failed attempt to chase a flush draw...and when my AK vs A10 got busted i was back to where i started ..... Three hours later i finally bust my $200 buyin with pocket Q's with a flop of 7 6 6 pot was raised and i re-raised all in only to be called!....you have to understand that the player raising had been doing this every pot so it was 50/50 whether he had it or not....a hero call or a donk call..turned out it was a donk call! Buyin $200 Cash $0.00 James Conlon, Steve Found, Ian Hudson Dan and myself make our way over to the Mirage to sample their $1/2 tables, to be honest i am not that impressed, they have 10 of us sitting around a stud table and it feels like sardines in a can very uncomfortable.. Its a very loose table and very easy to double up if i get any cards ...but i lose $75 when my AA Vs K3 and he hit the K on the flop and then on the river! I make some of the money back when i make broadway with AK, but i am always hovering around the buyin and not really making any impression. Its late and i am just about to leave when i get pckt 8's in the big blind, i think i make a hero call on the river with a flush draw on the table, thinking i had hit my straight...but i hadn't and i donk of $96 bucks on a tired mistake! Buyin $250 Cash $75 Just to wish the guys good luck today ...i am making my way over to Binions later to play in the $500 .....now i got to grab some sleep! |

I arrive at Binions around 11am to make sure i get a place in the $500...and to my shock there are only 75 players, in hindsight i wished i played the $235 at Caesars i seem to enjoy if there are 200+ players rather then the smaller field, but i am here now so i guess i better play.
Table is friendly and i pick up early pots with out much of a fight..to be honest the first 9 levels are going really well at around 23 players left i have over the average chip stack and and hopefully make it to the final table to cash. 18 players left i am in the BB with A7 one mid position limper which is a bit suspious, so i check to see a flop 4 7 7 he bets i raise and he thinks for ever before annoucing allin, i call he has pkt 9's! then catches runner runner diamond to hit the four card flush ...and i am out in 18! That Bad beat stayed with me all the way back in the taxi to the flamingo with the same old question going through my head 'what if'! Its not surprised i donk of $150 in the $1/2 cash game....on a chased flush and second pair to a drunk on the table...so i get up and go back to the hotel to cool down take a shower a grab some food before heading out back to the flamingo to grind out a profit. Its around 10 and i sit at the same table most of the faces have left ...including the drunk girl who must of had over $1000 dollars in chips .... I grind my way to around $430 from a $200 buyin mainly on the back of J 10 suited flop was 10 10 A turn J river Q ... BUT for the second time in two days player opposite me thought K 4 was a good spot to call a raise of $22 because he had $7 invested... when i held AA flop was K 3 K and even though i knew he had the king i still had to see for his remaining chips $110 ...... Shortly after i leave with $280 ......i am suppose to be playing a $330 today at the Venetian but i am going to give it a miss and take a break for a day and just relax and catch up on some much needed sleep. Update from the WSOP is that it looks like all the LPL players are all out on the first day! |

![]() Way to build up the tension Mike. lol. I was kinda hoping your reports of your tournament and cash table action (entertaining as they are) were a prelude to a lengthy LPL at WSOP report. |
