Default My attempt to get to WSOP

Well....I tried.....

Just go for the very short version here.

I won two qualifiers to get to final games.

(Both funnily enough on Cake Poker)

1st was to a side event. $2500 package thingy. At final table....(top 3 go to vegas). I am in a clear 2nd place. maybe 7 left. me and the big stack have most of the chips on the table.

I am BB. all fold round to SB (chip leader)..

he goes all in...

I look at my cards.....oh GAWD NO!!!!

I have pocket Aces.

I make my decision. If I win this hand...I AM going to vegas.

I call. He shows QQ.

Flop was RAG RAG RAG (no really, 2 5 6 rainbow).

I saw this coming.....Turn...Q

and just to rub it in......River Q.

***********************************************
Next attempt.

I played in a student game ($100 freeroll, winner goes to final).

Yes, I won, and am in the final.

the winner of this game gets £4500 AND a $14,000 WSOP MAIN EVENT PACKAGE.

After several hours of great play, I am in good form, having played some truely great poker.

there are 2 players left..(chips and cards turned to one player as at 4 players so I was no longer the long time chip leader).

anyway....some time later......

He calls my BB...I check. I have 6 10 off.

flop 6 10 2 (rainbow).

He goes all in. I call

he shows QQ.

Turn : K

River?

go on guess.......yes.....that one.....

River Q

I lose to trips on the river.........

I mean COME ON!......how close do I have to get.......

ALWAYS bubbling.

I even bubbled in a bubble tourny on Blue Square.

(so....at the end of the day, you CAN fold pocket Aces pre-flop, I just didn't)

Cya at the tables

Sean

Preety sick but to be honest I think I really would have folded them, If it was anyone else except chip leader I would have called but I would have stayed out of the way, unlucky though, and remember, Vegas is hot, sweaty and packed. Who in there right minds wants to go there!!!!!

I played a satellite where 23 people won $13,000 packages to the main event. 24th position got $3,000 and I came 25th, so I can empathise.

That AA vs QQ hand is an interesting one. There's been quite alot of discussion on these forums about mucking AA pre-flop and I think the one time most people agreed on was in this situation.

If the CL in SB shoved then it implies the table was weak, so you could have maybe waited to target the shortstacks rather than the bigstack. Although if it were me, I'd probably have called and also lost.

The problem is you know your in front, but why gamble when you don't need to, you might be a 70% favorite but 3 in 10 you WILL lose, why gamble?? Its hard and it hurts but fold, then utter a few f's under your breath!

I made a gamble, if it paid off, I WAS going to vegas, If I am in that situation again, I might act differently. But I would have to think longer first....lol.

Don't look at your cards until he's bet.

When CL goes all in push your cards into the middle of the table without looking at them.

Easy!
