Nice one Matt....

I am thinking maybe change the course to some where like Stockwood, its a lots less of a challenge and would give all players of different handicaps a chance to enjoy the game as well as the poker!

Rules...rough outline!

I asume its going to be based on a cash game format...tournament just wont work

Max buy-in would be £20 Minimum £15 (maybe two top ups allowed for the max or min)

Max handicap would have to be 18 (19-28 can play but wont recieve the max handicap)

Ante's 50p ( i am not to sure how we would include this in the game other than players who fold after the first drive on the Tee HAVE to post an ante on the next hole?) players who fold after the second shot won't have to post.

i.e

players will go out in a fourball ....

Players will then draw on the first tee for order

1st hole every player must pay an ante. 50p
Every player will then Tee off and when the last player drives... players will decide whether to check/bet/fold (1st hole every player posts a ante so it wont be a fold unless a player raises.

i.e
Matt
Mike
Dave
Steve

all players have driven...

Matt was first so he can check or bet (remember every player on the first hole played an ante)
Matt had a poor drive so he checked!
Mike also had a poor drive so he check
Dave hit a big drive so he bet £2
Steve Folds
Matt folds
Mike calls

2nd shot
Mike... hits a flyer 20yrds past the green....
Dave hits 20ft from the flag!

Mike ...Checks
Dave bets £1

Mike folds ...Dave wins pot and onto next hole!

Ante's on this hole will be
Steve and Matt because they folded prior to the second shot

Player who wins the hole gets to go first as in normal golf! and so forth.

this then continues all around the course until players go bust or 18th hole!

Handicaps would be worked out on the day to how many shots per hole a player would get!

Please add anything that you think might help?

18 max? Not for me then probably. It would be fun obviously, but I wouldn't have a hope in hell recieving just 4 shots on a 14 handicapper.

I think 28 max is fine Mike. I've played with Matt and Woody and I would say it would be fine putting matt off 28 and Woody off 24 or something.

I'm thinking that it will be difficult when you have to give a player a shot. I mean if I have to give Matt or anyone a shot on a par 3 then I'm going to be folding pretty much every tee shot. I reckon that the ante should be £1 and if you have a shot off a lower handicapper on the hole then you have to put an ante of only 50p or something.

It's going to be tough to figure out, maybe the ante is 50p and everytime I have to give someone a shot on a hole then I have to put £1 in to try and force me to gamble on the hole.

maybe your right ... maybe have a max at least we can have the option of folding if you hit a couple of good shots!

I think your right 28 would be ok ..like you say we all have the option of folding!

If we start with £15/20 buyin *allow two top ups with either 50p/£1 antes that would be fine...maybe we should introduce a max that could be bet each time..like a limit tourney so that players dont go bust on the first hole lol!!

maybe the Max bet with 50 antes could be 4x (say £2 being the max bet/raise)

its going to be tough with the first one as there will no doubt be various questions that might be brought up..

Maybe if we could get a four ball up in the week when i get back (so some time in july) and just try the format and see if we can iron out any problems there might be?

Maybe You Matt myself and one other...and give it a trial run?

I am happy for any weekend in July except the finals weekend at the White Lion (assuming I qualify....).

I like the idea of a max handicap of 18 and also think that the maximum bet of £2 per hole is a very good idea, especially if someone gets off to a flyer.
