I'll be honest, i've not read this forum completely but i've got the general gist of it. Here's my view. Does it really matter who wins the league? Exactly what is that achieving? Bragging rights? Who cares! For the sake of crowning one player I think all these changes are just uneccessary. The player I rate is the one I watch take my chips out of my tray, and I think the monthly finals give us more than enough insight into who the better players are. I believe the league structure offers more than enough for everyone, especially since the £5 stake giving players a small cash incentive. Im quite sure anyone actually interested who is the best player can decide for themselves, go look at the leader board and have a look at players place consistency, averages etc.

With regards too new players. . . For me I think the league needs a little more in the way of advertising. Too be fair ive seen a few new players recently which is great but with the number of new games and venues opening up around makes me believe that the leagues funds are better invested in advertising than giving players chip covers, t-shirts, caps etc etc.

Oooh i forgot to mention another averages consideration. Me thinks 8 games. . . and calculation something as follows:

EG 21 games

Take Top 2 places
Total next 17 games/17 * 4
Take Bottom 2 places

Add em up, anyone got the time to calculate that?

Hi DeanDmac
No, ultimately it doesn't matter at all who wins the league. Poker, by its nature, is a good part luck anyway. Winning the monthly final or topping the leaderboard isn't going to "prove" who is the best player. It just means that player has been playing well, and getting at least his or her fair share of good cards and luck.

All the proposed changes are designed to do is give more people the chance to top the monthly leaderboard. This should create extra interest, stimulate competition and boost attendances at the different venues. Hopefully it can do all this, and yet cost the league little money. Basically it is just a bit of fun.

Did I just read that last post correctly? LUCK!? What the hell has luck got to do with the glorious game? I agree with the 'bit of fun' thing though, but not everyone who plays in the LPL is there purely for fun...I like it being fun, fun, fun.....

When i said 'uneccessary changes' i actually meant the various propositions that were being put forward, but yes i understand that we want to try and get everyone on a level playing field in terms of earning a ranking, qualification for finals etc. Topping the leaderboard. . . well i honestly still stick with what ive said, its easy enough to determine who are the better players without the changes but i see no harm in the new structure.
