Right there is no way im ever going to win my way to Vegas I have finally realised. After getting busted out of another big tourney by someone fishing with a 67 off and busting my KK.
So Jonnywheels and I have bit the "bullets" and paid for a single blokes jolly over to Las Vegas over Xmas and New Year. Yippie cant F,ing wait. So the point of this rant:- Vegas is far too big for us to do and see everything on a ten day poker beer and brass bender! So im asking you the poker playing public (well the ones who have been to Vegas) what we should make sure we do? Any really good tourneys? Any mind blowing casino's we should check out? Any tips and advice greatly appreciated. Many thanks tinlid |

If your going out to play poker don't expect many casino's to run great blind structures, in my trip early this year i played alot at Planet Hollywood(fantastic card room) 4K starting stack and a reasonable structure $60 buyin, i think in the afternoon game they now run a $120 buyin but i believe the same structure. If you your looking at cash games then 'Tankman' will be able to point you in the right direction, but the Flamingo ran a good $1/$2 NL game If its your first time in Vegas then try and take a trip out to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, even though it would be bloody freezing! I stayed at the Tropicana a few years back (before I discovered poker so no tips on where to play, sorry). Try to get a room at least 20 floors up overlooking the Strip, the view is amazing.
One thing I have found is that if you win over $1000.00 they take 30% in tax. However this can be avoided if you have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number which you can get from the IRS at Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) Apparently it takes a few weeks to process so probably worth getting it sorted out as soon as possible. This site has a list of card rooms and tournaments (but it looks like it might be out of date) Las Vegas Poker Rooms And just found this one which lists all the tournaments in town. Las Vegas Poker Tournament Schedule Anyone else fancy a trip over there next year? I know I'd like to go again. |
