I haven't a clue who he is, but from reading thorough various posts on this forum, I get the impression TheChickenman has a reputation for being a bit of a tight player, as "he almost always has an Ace." (Or minimum AJ as he himself puts it)
Now, I'm not disputing this, and in now way do I mean to have a pop, or disrespect anyone's play, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY ON THIS EARTH that he is tighter than Manchester's rock, Brawlsy. This thread is dedicated to the legend that is Stuart Brawls. An experienced player and one of the longest serving members of the LPL, Stuart, A.K.A Brawlsy, Rocksteady Stu, StellaF1, and Captain Sensible, has to be the tightest poker player that ever lived. He is what Antonio Esfandiari would call an "FBS" (a full blown squeezer) We all know that a lot of the time the best way to make money is to fold, but Brawlsy is on another level. He has the patience of a saint, and will quite happily sit there all night not playing a single hand until he is blinded out. It just seems that when the time comes that he is forced in on his BB, he picks up a monster hand and somehow quadruples up, keeping him in the game for that bit longer. I felt the need to start a thread where we can discuss what's going on in the world of Brawls. Please feel free to add anything u think might be relevant. Possible subjects up for discussion include: - What is the weakest hand you have seen him make a pre-flop raise with? (on a full table) - What is the strongest hand you have seen him lay down from the button after the action has folded round to him? - After he has bet, and you have raised, and he has re-raised all-in... Has anyone ever called him without holding the nuts? - Has anyone ever seen him take an early chip lead and use his big stack to dominate the table and put pressure on the shorter stacks? Finally, before I sign off, for anyone thinking about labeling Brawlsy as a fish, here are his stats, as of Oct 31st: Stuart A Brawls Total Games Played 131 1st Place Finishes 7 Top 5 Finishes 49 Total Times Placed 122 Overall Average 295.81 Rank Shark Oh and Brawlsy, if you're reading this, give us a bell when u finish work, mate. Are we playing pool home or away tonight? |

KK - What is the strongest hand you have seen him lay down from the button after the action has folded round to him? AJ ? - After he has bet, and you have raised, and he has re-raised all-in... Has anyone ever called him without holding the nuts? No way. Apart from once we caught him bluffing. - Has anyone ever seen him take an early chip lead and use his big stack to dominate the table and put pressure on the shorter stacks? Nope. |

Kev 2legs asked me the other day at the Walsall APAT who I would pick out of the league for a pub team.
In a flash I said no1 Brawsly, no2 Tony 1leg no3 Jonnywheels and no4 Kris (Oh hold on a min! Could have I little idea here or a fantasy poker league, based on our league! Note to mike copyright care of tinlid) Anyone have any other thoughts on a best team? P.s there is no way on this earth id be in the best team, before any of you lot point this out. As for the APAT Kev busted out first then me then Tony. Of course all bad beats!!!! :o) |

Good shout Flanny, it'd be difficult to pick a team though as theres so many to choose from...
I agree with your initial selections (i always say 1leg and jonny) but heres a few others for the shortlist: Nigel Beasley. Lot of respect for him even though he calls me by a different name everytime I see him. Scott Grantham. This guy has been ON FIRE since his long break from poker. (cheers Doyle) Chris Angry and Martin Perrin. Always considered them good players, its a shame Chris calls with shit. Vegas Jim would be there, but for god's sake give him some good cards! "Av ad no fookin bastard cards all fookin bastard nite!" Burkey, but thats obvious, he's a pro! I also like the way LiamAA plays, albeit by the book, the epitome of TAG. Eric is about a million times better than he was when i first played with him. He still gets pushed around a bit at times, but he's a "solid" player. Plus I recently noticed he's got 14 wins under his belt. Maybe put him in next years team! Oh, and whats that other guy called? Oh yeah, Mike Morris. Sick player. |

How dare you try to derail one of the greatest threads in poker history. It's bad enough talk had already steered to "who's wonderful in the Manchester league" from the "Brawlsy vs The Chickenman" conversation, but this is just too much.

Baggsy not dealing when they get heads-up at the Regions Cup... ...but Brawlsy is definitely a bona fide LPL legend. |
