Default what about the winners?

I only run one venue a week and I have an average turn out of 14 runners but most of the 19 new players I have signed up are not bothering anymore because there is no more bronze or silver card covers available. I also have regular players trying for silver covers they are never going to get! How can I keep my small time players interested?
I know the Vegas seats are fantastic prizes but some people just want to play poker once or twice a week instead of the usual pool, darts or domino leagues. There is no chance of them ever winning the league because of some players who manage to play 31 times a month stumbling over the points bubble every night to be pretty much gifted the league title just for turning up.
What about handing out purple chips to venue winners? They could save them up…
5 chips = T-shirt. 10 chips = sweatshirt something along those lines they could be printed with web site logo (advert) and “silver medallist” or something similar.
Any other ideas?

The winner each and every night gets to play in a satellite at the end of each month where if they get into the top 5 they will get a chance to play for that WSOP Main Event seat..isnt that worth winning??
You would of thought a chance to win a prize package worth over $12,000 is something to aim for, if players are leaving beacause thay can't win a bronze
or a silver coin then i guess i can't please everyone.

Players can also get to monthly finals by the best average you don't have to finish top to qualify thats why we include Best Averages and Reserves, but if they only play 1 game a week then you can offer them the chance to play for that fantastic $12,500 package to the WSOP 2008.

The Monthly freeroll will also offer a fast track to the Final in March to the top three players, only qualification is that you play one game a month, so when you say players have nothing to play for i would argue and say players have everything to play for!

PS i do have some bronze coins left which i will keep 20 for when you send your Regions cup team down in early December, so at least some players will recieve them

Tony
Your suggestion was that players had nothing to play for if they only played one game a week, one of the reasons we brought in the WSOP 'Main Event' prize was for that reason just so players could win a big prize but not have to worry about having to play X amount of games to qualify.....

Perhaps any player who wins a game during the month no matter how many time he/she plays during the month should have a seat at the month end final?

Just a thought.

Everyone has a point in the amount played V's prizes argument. For my two pennies worth for what its worth is-

The Vegas prize is fantastic and the best prize in any free to play league anywhere! This is indeed a great incentive for more serious players.

For the players who only play once or twice a week it seems you can pretty much right off ever getting to a monthly final in the Manc league anyway. It seems you have to at least play six or seven times to get even near the monthly final.
But there the ones who support the league the most so why not give them a monthly event that we once a weekers cant really qualify for. After all they put the hours in to the league.

The card covers issue has caused some controversy because the way you get and when you get them keeps changing. To be honest I’ve played in this league for well over a year and I still don’t know what the criteria is for moving up the card cover ladder. (However I now have gold one so I don’t care anymore ;o)

One legs idea for chips to convert to prizes is a good one however if the cost of implementing this reduces the prize fund throughout the year I think the optional Cash stake should be enough for the casual players.

If you win a night you get through to monthly final is a good idea too. But from a business point of view if you win one night what incentive have you got to keep coming back night after night to get your points up.

Just my thoughts but what do you lot care I only play once a week nowadays!

I think i have said this before, but the league revolves around the players who play regular and support the venues and for this we put up some "in my opinion" great prizes, i also understand that venues get a fair amount of players who can only play once a week, normally this player is just a social player who enjoys his one night out away from the wife and kids to have a laugh and enjoy a bit of poker with some friends..and this is what it is a "social Poker nite"

....that is why we introduced the 'Main Event' prize a chance to win something extra and give "social Players" a chance of winning a big prize which has nothing to do with leaderboards or how many games you play...play 3x and you could be sitting on a plane on your way to Las Vegas to play the Main Event.....i really don't know what more to add to this post...prizes for players who play for monthly leaderboards.... Prizes for players who play once a week...

PS Bronze Coins for 3 wins in the league Silver Coins for 5 Wins (i have 20 bronze coins left for Manchester) Silver have all gone.

Golds coins to players who make the 'Main Event Final in April.

i too agree with tony1leg in regards to the chip covers, i was pretty disheartened when Mike informed me there are no more silvers since winning my bronze all my efforts into gaining my silver on my 7th win only to find they are no longer been made.
But the league is offering plenty of other more expensive prizes i suppose which is good.
so i guess we just gotta start aiming higher now than working towards the chip covers which everyone enjoyed reaching the levels am still very disheartened that they wont be making any more is there not another company that can make these? As like its been said 1st post we cant all play every game of the month and work 2wards getting the regions medal!!! (very impossible dream to alot of social players)

While I agree the Vegas prize is awsome. I agree with tony I think there should be some middle ground! Have a look at the competition see what they are offering if they can pull 5x more players regulary compared to our league they have to be doing somthing right.

I love the league the people and the atmosphere thats why I play. But I would love to have a card cover to show what your 'status' is.

Just my 2 cents.

O and whats the "regions medal"?
