Hi Mike,
I can't make it that weekend, so I guess my spot goes to a reserve?? (not sure how these things work). Thought I'd let you know in advance to allow others to make plans if need be. Ta! |

Reserves have been added and if any player scores over 2500 points they will automatically qualify for the monthly final no matter what position they finish in the table. So that rewards players that play numerous games (which is much more easier in bath/bristol than it is in chippenham) then players at a higher skill level? Didn't qualify last month despite two wins and 4 places in top 8 from 6 games. yet someone who plays 24 games with average results qualifies. What's fair about that? Why is this also the second consecutive final near Gloucester?? |

Did two wins and four top-eight finishes not got you through on averages?

Averages were introduced a while back mainly for the point that you bring up, players who play just once or twice a week were not able to reach the finals, so we introduced a system that allowed these players who scored well entry via the best averages.
Automatic qualification for players who reach 2500 points has been introduced because in some of the leagues due to the number of venues and players it is possible to reach 2500pts and not qualify, this would seem unfair and make qualification to difficult. Reason for using the venue at Dursley is due to the number of players who could turn up at the next couple of finals, and rather be crushed in like sardines this venue is perfect with lots of space and the ability to holdover 10 tables with ease. Dursley is more or less central to all the other regions apart from Swindon. September we are having our anniversary special and all you need to do is play 7 games to qualify!, plus we are going to double the prize money. ![]() |

I think the one slight drawback with Dursley is it is awkward to get to. There seems to be one train there which arrives at 10.15 and coming back to bristol they only go once every two hours. I'll need to put my thinking cap on for this one.

I did qualify this month, but the month with two wins I didn't qualify, I got 2,200 points and average wasn't actually good enough (only month I haven't qualified), funnily enough about only 60 people turned up for gloucester, wasn't aware of the reserves situation, but are you going to travel that far away as a reserve and you might not even play. Mike kindly phoned me to explain the reasons for the 2500 points and the venue problems today. Hope to make Dursley but again its a bit of a problem getting back when you are not mobile.
