As long as someone at the venue takes the times to show the new players the rules so they understand and accept them, then it is best they learn them.

If they have a grounding of the basic rules in a friendly (LPL) environment, then they will be in a much better position should they decide to progress towards casino games. Doing such things as grabbing your cards out of the muck, doing a rabbit without the permission of the person who won the hand, etc in a casino environment, will not only cause arguments, but can often result in the floor manager being called to make specific rulings.

I agree that the LPL games should be fun, and I think they are judging by the number of new people who continue to sign up to play. The rules are there for a reason and new players should be willing to learn (and abide by) the rules. As I say, the LPL games offer a very good introduction to the game for new payers as they are not risking their own money and are gaining experience of the game - if it also helps them to learn the rules so they can advance to play in other venues/casinos/home games then so much the better.
