Default *NEW PROMOTION* Las Vegas Prize!

At Poker.co.uk Live Poker League we try to come up with new ideas that will reward the players who support and play in the LPL.

So this time we are going to push the boat out an offer a Las Vegas Prize which is going to be a $12,500 package for one lucky person!

The promotion is going to run for 10 months, NO...league tables! ....NO....chasing around trying to get points.

Qualification will be split into months, so players will have 10 attempts to reach the Live Final.

Stage 1

All you have to do is win one of the nightly LPL games that month, this will allow you to qualify for the Satellite held online at Poker.co.uk.

The satellite will take place the following month on a sunday, we will try and hold the satellite on the second sunday of the month.

Stage 2:

Play the satellite at Poker.co.uk and get into the top 5 to qualify for the Las Vegas Prize which is going to be a live final held in April 2008 with 50 players who would of qualified

The top 5 who qualify in each of our satellites will recieve an exculsive Gold card protector!

Stage 3

If you are lucky or good enough to reach this stage then you will play in a live Final at the end of April 2008,
More details to follow soon ....promotion is going to start June 2007

PS this is not going to effect the other promotions and monthly finals that we are already running....these will continue as normal!

Good Luck everyone

Its a good idea, but I must admit I preferred the live table format which the monthly and quarterly finals gave. These live finals have presented a good opportunity to test your poker against players from different regions.

Agreed, the monthly/quarterly format of qualifying via pubs in your local region may need an overhaul, but I can foresee a situation with the new format where players who win one of their local games in any one month may then have no incentive to play further games in that month. However, I do like the idea of just the winner qualifying as this format rewards skill and playing ability more than how many games you manage to turn out for.

In my opinion, qualifying for an online satellite final instead of a live final also has its disadvantages. You cannot see your opponents and I believe you are open to more acts of chance and the possibility of bad beats than with live play.

Maybe you could still run a monthly league and live final where only, say, the top 10 averages in each region over a month are good enough to qualify, rather than having it based on a points system? That way, the existing pubs you have in each region would stay (more?) lively on the nights they host a

I have raised these questions to debate them rather than critcise your new idea.

Cheers

Hi thanks for your feedback.

This comment confused me a little - as we are still running the league as normal and will be having monthly finals as normal.

The Las Vegas Prize will have a LIVE Final in April next year, but to get their you will have to qualify via a monthly online satellite (top 5 will qualify)

The incentive will remain the same qualify to get into the top 20 from your league to move forward to the live final.
(your comment suggests that i am replacing the league with the Las Vegas Prize, but that is not the case the league will run as normal)

I agree that live is better then online, but to run a live satellite every month including Manchester region will not be feasible due to numbers.

PS. the satellite is not the final, its a qualifier where the top 5 will proceed to the LIVE FINAL held in April -winner of the April Final will win the prize.

I don't understand where you got the info that the League is being replaced by the Las Vegas Prize promotion?
but to make it clear we are still running:
  • Monthly League - with a live Final the following month Prize Fund £1,000
  • Badbeat Quartley League - Prize 2 seats to the WSOP $2,500 Package
  • Las Vegas Promotion Starts June - Win the $12,500 las Vegas Package
  • Monthly online $500 Freeroll at Poker.co.uk
Hope that clears up any confusion.

Mike,

Thanks for the time you've taken in explaining this, it does clear up a misunderstanding I had. The new competition gives players yet another option and another way of qualifying and that can only be a good thing

Is anyone else getting seriously worn down by this format?

i know that the league is sponsored by the website and they have every right to want to push players to play the site, but i thought that was what the freeroll was for?

having won on monday i've kept up my record of picking up a win every month since the promotion started (and im not a guy that plays every night). but i can not make online poker work for me, anybody whos played with me knows that 'table chat' not to mention the ability to work a hand through for longer than that bloody ticker will let you is a big part of my game and im not nearly as successful without it.

i know im ranting because there's only a couple of months left but this will be the first time i havent qualified for an event in years and i genuinely think that when im playing a LIVE league and i want to make a LIVE final to play for a LIVE entry, i shouldnt need to be a good online player.

rant over
