Thanks to dave for sorting venue and working his socks off, even when he wasn't allowed to play.
However, I was very puzzled at the blind structure. It was basically the same as the regular structure but the 50/100 and 150/300 levels were omitted. The payback was 8000 chips instead of 5000. i thought the extra chips were intended to make for a longer more skillful game, with it being the final and all that. However this would not be possible with those 2 levels taken out, even with 25 min levels. In fact we would have had more chips relative to blinds if we had kept the normal structure and starting stack. I've worked out that with 500000 chips in play, we could have easily finished the tourney by 10.30 with 25/20 min levels, 8000 chips to start and the missing levels back in. As it was, people failing to double up after 75 mins were looking to push with marginal hands. I dont want to sound like a moaner (even though i probably do) or sour grapes (was beaten fair and square), I just want to suggest this on the forum and see if anyone else agrees with me (not about me being a moaner though |

Funnily enough, Mr Swinebag, the latest installment of the blog contains a very mathematical moan about the the state of yesterday's blinds. It's a bit of a rum do when you qualify for what should be the highlight of the month, only to have much less room for manoeuver.
The "but you've got more chips" argument doesn't wash. I've had my calculator out, and in relation to the blinds, you have significantly fewer chips than in a regular game. Other than that, it was an ace day out |

Anyway i ran the final yesterday and we had a blind structure of this: 50-100 1hour level 100-200-30mins 150-300-30mins --15 break----- 200-400-30mins 300-600-30mins 400-800-30 mins --break-- 600-1200-25mins 800-1600-25mins --Colour Up-- 1K-2K-25mins 1.5k-3k- 25mins 2K-4K-20mins ---BreaK--- 3K-6K-20mins 4k-8K-20mins ---Colour Up--- 5k-10K levels Capped Games finished with 57 players at 9:50 As this seemed to work very well i will discuss with Dave to try and sort out the same structure for your next Final. Cheers Mike |

That would've been beautiful. Presuming we'll be having more finals while this Badbeat League is up 'n' running, any chance of an early start for us Mancs, too?
An hour at 50/100...it's the stuff of dreams... |

I can not see any reason why we wouldn't run the same format in Manchester. |

Thanks for the reply mike. I hope dave can be persuaded to this structure, as much as i hope i can qualify for one.
Ian, I was actually the bloke sat next to you who busted out with the QQ. It was a good day, albeit short for me. An hour of 50/100 is indeed the stuff of dreams. As a maths teacher I'll be marking your calculations and see you at the star on wednesday. |

Aaaah, I thought you might have been. Thinking about it, that was the most gut-wrenching beat of the day (which I saw, at least), I'd just blocked it out of my mind - zen-like - it was so painful.
Fingers crossed, then, that the new structure will be heading up north. Anybody know who won in the end, btw? |
