Congratulations to Adie Mutlow from Bath in winning the Main event on Sunday
Addie went heads up with Kris Evans from Gloucester, 10/10 vs Q/Q brought a abrupt end as Adie's Q's held up. The new starting chips seemed to go down well, but the blind structure stills needs a little tweaking. 1. Adie Mutlow --- (Entry into the World Masters +£100 expenses) 2. Kris Evans --- (Poker.co.uk $100) 3.Stuart Campbell--- (Poker.co.uk $70) 4.Stuart Heron --- (Poker.co.uk $50) 5.Richard Murphy--- (Poker.co.uk $30) 6.Calvin Burkinshaw 7.Val Cole 8.Pete Jobling |

congrats to all those who got to the final table. Just like to say that I thought the extra chips worked very well Mike. It felt like a proper poker tournament that gave room for actual poker instead of just lumping all your chips in the middle and hoping to catch somthing.
PS, stupid pockets 8's versus AQo !!!! |

PS, stupid pockets 8's versus AQo !!!! if it helps i lost 25k on pocket queens to pockets eights maybe justice was done lol |

Yep, another thumbs-up from me for the new blinds structure/starting stack, I thought it did a great job of achieving the stated aim of a 6-7 hour game with lots of opportunity for play, lots of ups and downs and chips moving around the table. (As the 4th-placed Stuart will attest...) It was a highly entertaining afternoon/evening as a result.
Only downside was the horrendous 20,000-40,000 blinds at the end. Apparently there was a total of 380,000 chips in play, so by the time we were down to three (fairly even-stacked) players, that's an average of about 125,000 each. Having to put 60,000 of those in just for a small blind and a big blind, when a three-player hand is typically over in about 30 seconds, turned it into exactly the pure-luck crapshoot the new structure was meant to avoid. (As I found out to my cost when I got shot down and taken out by Adie's 5-7 offsuit big blind... ) It was still only 10.20pm, and it was a shame to have put so many hours of hard work in to accumulate just two rounds of blinds. With a 20,000 ceiling (unless time constraints force otherwise), though, I think the new structure will definitely turn out to be a successful change. |

Mike
Will we have the same blind structure and starting chips for the manchester final on sunday? The format for the bristol one seemed to make much more sense. Have to say, I love the league format. True, its a total crapshoot in the end but pubs have to close and people have lives to lead. You can play well and make the final table most weeks and that should be enough to make the monthly final. What is the london poker festival? I've found nothing on the web about it and may go if/when I dont win on sunday. Keep up the good work |
