Hi all

Things appear to have kicked off in here recently

Whatever people think of the setting up of a rival league, the morals of it, the rights and wrongs etc, can I ask them to keep their comments civil.

Calling each other 'arseholes' (or worse) doesn't really achieve much. I have had to edit 4 posts and delete 2 more, to remove coarse language and insults directed at an individual.

I appreciate that a lot of people are interested in the leagues, so will allow discussions on the subject of the rival league. However, please can I ask that comments that are made are civil, and that each party has an opportunity to respond without being 'shouted down'. There are always two sides to each story.

I am not singling out individual offenders, simply reminding people this is supposed to be a friendly community.

Can I also remind people not to post financial information on other people's affairs. For example, I have had to delete a post that said "Pub x couldn't afford £y a night to run the league which is why they left". I'm sure the pub, and landlord, in question wouldn't like to hear they couldn't afford the small fee quoted. That obviously doesn't reflect well on their business, and almost implies they are insolvent.

In my defense over the last month (not sure why i am defending myself) since the Fire Engine have left the league i have gone on about my business in recruiting new pubs increasing prizes and trying to improve the flaws that have been part of this league.

When i first started up i was a one man band i invested alot of money and time in a solicitor (concerned over the laws) and then advertising & setting up of the league, as with all things some people wont be happy its the same in all types of business...and i accept as with this league there will always be room for improvement

I have always considered myself open to new idea's, for example people wanted names on the leader board (done) people wanted a forum (done) people wanted to view past results (done) ..now we are looking at changing the points structure ..so forgive me when i get annoyed when read that i would dismiss things out of hand or i wouldnt listen...the problem i have is that when john lawson writes he seems to love to fabricate the truth and not tell the whole story

So you might excuse me if i get a little upset when a pub that is doing a great trade gives me 5 hours notice that they are withdrawing from holding LPL events on the same day that an LPL event is being held, a work colleage who i would play poker with at his house does not even bother to ring or send me an e-mail explaining his reason to why he did this or the fact that he was leaving?.

So you would understand if i wrote a long post slagging of the Fire engine or venting my anger at John Lawson.....but you wont find one post!

Then i find John lawson is writing posts on post blogs on blogs on how crap my league is how many players are turning up at certain events, how the increase in prize money is desperate and expressing extreme pleasure at the league's downfall..nice huh

I am just reading through his last blog entry i find it amazing to the lows this guy will stoop to..and he calls me desperate?. the George part and the garage is so funny i almost fell of my chair...most of what i read is either hearsay fabricated truths and just plain lies...
There is one Post entry which i have taken exception to (the post on a diferent site which has been removed) and i will be seeking legal advice..but i won't go into detail at this very moment...if he thinks he can continue writing false truths putting private information up on a web site then he is sadly mistaken

I would just like to add this:
if i was to say anything to anyone i wouln't hide behind a computer screen i would have at least the courage to tell them to their face..maybe there is a lesson in there somewhere?

Too be honest Mike, i dont see why you have to justify your decisions or defend yourself... people know in their hearts what is right and wrong or ethical or unethical...

Every business has there ups and downs and like you said before, its a 'blip'... everyone knows you will bounce back and be better for it.

Good luck for the start of a new era - out with old and in with the new and improved.

Just too add to Raisers post, I agree you dont have defend yourself,
As i have said on more than one occasion.... there is nothing wrong with healthy competion, but its the way the whole thing was done.

He was supposed to be a friend/host/pokerplayer/assistant organizer of the meetup group, but appears to have thrown that all aside to start his new league. One wonders what he might do to an enemy??

I have to agree with you Matt there should be no need what so ever for personal insults on this site. I may have done this with a few of you so i will say sorry now! However what i say is only a joke and not to be taken personally!

However going back to the LPL i have played a few games here and noticed halfway throught this month what the prize was so i have been chasing for points which was going ok until tonight!! lol

Like i have said before any competition is good compeition and all is fair in business. However stupid lies and pointless comments are not needed and i am sure if any issues were discussed beforehand i am sure all this action would have been avoided (but hey i dont know both sides of the story i am merely seeing it from an outsider).

As for what you said Diceman about editing his website i believe in freedom of speech and i reckon he should be allowed to say what he likes. Its up to you if you want to pay any attention to it or just completly throw it out as a pointless view! I am sure most people have made their minds up already.

Anyway i have said my 2 cents for what it is worth and if pepole dont like what i am saying then dont read this! lol

Seeing as he doesnt talk to people in person but talks to the internet, I'll just ask
"Why does he bother to write such a frequent and pointless blog anyway? How many people actually read it regularly? And what could he possibly hope to gain except indirectly telling people how he plays poker and giving random strangers dirt on him? As well as alienating a lot of people when his activities and opinions become publicly known?"

I have to openly admit i do read his blog it is brilliant - its like big brother... sad but addictive....i actually think it is borderline genius.

Lol great minds think alike it seems. His blog is actually in my favourites next to Daniel Negreanu's! For different reasons though of course.
