i've stayed silent on this up to now but after doing a little bit of journalistic research...
As for the allegation that five people showed up to a game at the Crown and Horseshoe, yep that’s right but let’s delve a little deeper and see what we can find: The Crown and Horseshoe has never attracted many players – the most being 22 as far as I can tell (winner on 5th Feb got 611 points). But how about other venues running nights on the same night as The Fire Engine? Monday 8th May – Fire Engine - 28 runners Monday 8th May – 7p,m - Seven Café Bar Terrace – 36 runners 10.30pm Seven Café Bar Terrace – 36 runners. Oh and on Monday April 24th (when the Fire Engine was still part of the league) Seven Café Bar had 34 runners, so seems like they’ve gained numbers. My home venue is the Assembly Inn in Bath, on tuesday night people were queuing to play and we had five reserves waiting to play too, there are two more new venues coming on board in Bath, three more venues in Bristol coming on board, oh and also six venues on board in Manchester too. John has c.40 people playing in one venue (soon to be 3?) Mike has got 21 venues in seven different cities/towns.I hardly think Mike is going to be running for the hills with fear. And as for the prize fund twitterings – “the prize fund is going to be boosted to £2000 next month (I just read that it is only next month mind, after that it goes back down to £1000. God how desperate is he? LOL!” Let’s have a look at that too: The current prizes offered by the rival league are: 1) £250 of Argos vouchers - £250 2) An Archos XS100 3 Gig Mini Music Player – value £99.99 (tescos.com) 3) A meal for two at racks restaurant – c.£65 (http://www.racks-bristol.co.uk/) 4) A 4megapixel Digital Camera – found a 5 megapixel one on amazon - £85 5) A Sanyo Cd Micro system – found two on amazon one at £65 another at £55 we’ll call it £60 6) £30 of book cupboard vouchers - £30 7) football shaped BBQ – found on ebay for £30 total value of prizes - £634 . |

I feel like I'm at school again. The only trouble is, back then I knew I was in the geek gang, now I have no idea.

I am the landlord Mat is talking about I think,
I pulled the league out of my pub cause it was poorly run, and justifiying spending £x.xx on people to sit a play cards and not drink is to me, not really good business sense. (IN BUSINESS TERMS MAT THE RETURNS WEREN'T HIGH ENOUGH) I Belive the arguements between the LPL and bristol Poker league are getting stupid, everyone acting like children, Do you think mr asda and mr tesco argue like this or mr superdrug and mr boots? No Probaly not they just do the best to pull in the customers, At the end of the day people will play where they feel comfortable no matter who runs the league in that location. Did partypoker or pokerroom contact poker.co.uk and whinge cause they started up and took people that used to log on with them? I don't think so! Get over it! Everybody!!!!!!!! This is the same approach I have taken in deleting threads where people have called each other arseholes. Again, I haven't mentioned names. Simply deleted/edited the posts, and asked for it not to occur again. I wouldn't expect someone to complain that I deleted a post where they were called an arsehole, and somehow imply that it was me that made the insult. That would be illogical Quote:
Let's get back to using this forum for what it was designed for, for discussions of the Live Poker League
