Yeah, something like that, but the lower down PLACE point should be lower, its a lot hard to get points out of bigger fields, this month I have played at two games where I knew there would be small fields and therefore I could have sat at the bar and let them take my blinds and I would have finished top 5!
I'm not sure if the system I suggest is correct but there needs to be a greater weighting for bigger fields 0.5 points isnt enough. |

Finishing 1st out of 2 will give you 601 points. Finishing 1st out of 60 will give you 630 points - hardly any difference. How about 10 points a place? 1st out of 2 = 610 points. 1st out of 60 = 1200 points. Much better Going back to the leaderboard for each venue. I really like that idea. If the top 3 or 4 from each venue qualify that seems to make the league a lot fairer overall. It would also remove the need for altering the points system. Mike, can you look in to the feasability of this? I don't know a whole lot about programming but I can't imagine this being too difficult. |

I agree but it makes a very big difference to the 8th to 16th placing and there wouldnt be much difference in those in a big field!

I would agree with the extra points for players in a field being increased. I've thought since I started playing that it was an obvious disadvantage to play in a game with more players points wise even if it may be more fun and far more rewarding if you win.
This could obviously go back to where the points are easier. If you get a field of 20 in Weston it's a very low turn out, whereas some people I've seen get to the finals play in games where only 14-15 people turn up. I would be for an increase in the amount of "extra" points you get for player numbers. |

As i have said before we are not going to change the structure of the league, and make seperate leaderboards as this will cause all kinds of problems and confusion and would not be viable. |

Even if there was a leaderboard for each venue, this doesnt change the fact that some people travel around to every venue they can, to accumulate points for the leaderboard and hope to get to the finals. The same person could be on top of the board for more than 1 venue. Then what happens if the finals were selected from "top 5 players from each venue" as proposed by some people. Unless the players had to register at 1 venue as their home venue, and be unable to be on the leaderboard at other venues, I dont see that this would be very feasible. Else you would have to disregard this person in position 1, and have positions 2-6 go to the finals instead. This would put people off travelling to the different venues, if they werent going to accumulate points etc, which as outlined below, travelling to lots of venues actually is a good thing for the league in many respects.
Some may say that this is a bad thing (frequenting multiple venues in the hope of accumulating points), but dont forget, they are supporting the league by doing so! If people didnt travel to each venue, the venue would have less customers from poker and therefore be less likely to even be a venue of the league! I do agree that there are some benefits for this "seperate leaderboard" idea, but there are also drawbacks Anyway, Im not a fan of publicly discussing ideas that could be stolen ... so have emailed Mike with ideas instead of putting them here for competitors to read and take. |

Good points welshdemon. I hadn't thought of that angle.
However, just for interests sake, I'd still like to see a seperate leaderboard for each venue. Maybe there could even be a small prize donated by each pub for the winner of each venue at the end of each month? A gallon of beer? Bar tab? This will encourage players to remain loyal to the league and also to the venues. |
