Can anyone tell me what the tourney structure for the Live Poker League (Bristol/Bath/Weston/Swindon) games is?
I think it was 4000 Total tourney chips comprising 20 chips There is one 1000 chip (Black) but how is the rest made up? ie the other 19 chips? I think denominations are 25 white, 50 red, 100 green, 500 blue?? Also what is the blinds structure - cant find it on the website and wanted to recreate it for a home game. |

Doc, Yup thats exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks.
Trying to train up a few mates before they give it a whirl in the pub. I think the blinds start at 25/50 and go to 50/100, then 75/150 etc etc every 15-20 mins or so?? |

The blind structure is not what I would use for a home game, as there is a massive jump in the blind levels, but this is needed in a pub game where time is a factor. If you want to practice it before hand the standard format goes like this
25/50 - 25 minutes 50/100 - 25 minutes 100/200 - 25 minutes 150/300 - 25 minutes 200/400 - 20 minutes Then there is a chip up where the only remaining chips in play are the 500's and 1000's and the blinds more than double to 500/1000 for 20 minutes 1000/2000 for 20 minutes 2000/4000 for 20 minutes Then there is another chip up where everyones chips are rounded up to stacks of 5000, and the blinds then become one chip, two chip. ie 5000/10000 10000/20000 20000/40000 There is no real set time for these levels as it is usually down to two or three players by now, so the levels are usually around 10-15 minutes. There are a couple of venues that have two games a night, so these games have an even stricter schedule than the one above. Because the first game has to finish in three hours to enable the second game to start on time, both of these venues take out the 150/300 blind level. |

Cheers for the reply - that's it - I can demonstrate everything now - except how to play each hand!
Do you think that one day a Live Poker League venue may get decent pokertables in to give it a proper cardrooom feel? |

Highly unlikely, unless a league is set up in a dedicated venue (ie: for the purpose of poker only), which would basically make it a card room I guess, it is not practical for a pub venue to invest in a more expensive table for the live league currently running for reason that they need to be able to store the tables, it is also not finacialy a good idea as nearly every table in the league has had at least 3 pints spilt on them!
the tables currently in use are the most ideal solution for situation. |

I agree, the current tables are great and it must make good sense to come and go leaving the pubs as they found them. Been meaninig to go to a Bristol game again.
Whats the general feeling? is it all a success? - from a players perspective it is terrific - suppose the pubs sell a few more drinks and raise their profile - not sure how it really funds itself though as the prizes are significant every month. The website only covers Bristol Bath Swindon & weston super-mare but is this a national thing? Maybe thats the future?? |

Hey Player,
but do you have WSOP seats?? Most of the users of this board already play in a fantastic, well run and established poker league in the South West and Manchester. Good luck with the league though.

Probably not the best place to post mate. You're not going to lure people away from the league for two reasons 1) Peope have been playing in this league for a year now, have made new friends and have great games of poker, therefore loyalty comes into play and 2) we're currently playing for 2007 WSOP seats.... you offering that as well? No, thought not!
As the previous poster said, good luck with your league, but don't come on here trying to sell it. Last edited by LPL_Mike : 23rd August 2006 at 09:46 AM. |
