We would like to open a gaming club but we haven't decided yet in which city, but it will be in England.
There won't be alcohol, just gamimg machines.
What are we to do?
All I know is that we should get license for machines, we are to pay income tax and VAT.
How should we start organising the business? Where are we to register? What taxes are we to pay?
Could you please help me in finding out that questions?
I think the gaming machine business comes under the "Bingo Hall Operation" category in UK for the purpose of licensing.
Gaming or Amusement Machine licenses are normally issued by the local councils, and you pay Gaming Duty to HM Revenue & Customs.
Go to one of the business help websites such as businesslink(dot)gov(dot)uk and try the "Your business sector" link.
Also search google for "Amusement Machine Licence Duty".
You will need to apply to the Gambling Commission to get an application form for a gaming licence. You will also need a premisis licence obtainable through your Local Council. You also need a licence for EACH MACHINE from HM Customs & Excise. If you require any further information please PM me.
Johnny's Amusements @ 114 Gorgie Road in Edinburgh is the only arcade in the UK to feature a dedicated Retro Section.
