    Default Perceptions of Gambling

Traditionally, the gambling industry has been viewed as a seedy, vice industry yet these perceptions appear to be changing in the present day.

In British culture, gambling was seen as a male dominated, working class leisure activity but now ther appears to be no exclusive demographic why do you think this is?

At least now being a gambler is seen as more respectable than being a banker!

a few reasons..on the net you can bet from the comfort of home
no need to go into smelly bookmaker shops.

betfair made a big impact with its ability to trade as opposed to just straight gamble.

there should now be a much bigger percentage of winners due to odds comparison sites
( which can reduce book over round on any event )
also betfair of course pays out more to winners than the bookies tend to.

also throw in increased legislation and regulation of it.
No longer any need to meet a shifty bookies runner down a dark alley etc.

I think it's still viewed as pretty seedy though, and although online gambling has made it easier for all kinds of people to gamble, gambling spam and other nefarious online marketing activities have turned a lot of people against it. Because of that, in a lot of people's minds, it's pretty much on a par with porn.

I agree online gambling is a big reason to start playing, it is my preferred option, and no one can hear you when you are swearing your head off....

I don't think gambling is now a male dominated game, especially in poker, there are several female poker players that are very goo like Annie Duke, Annette Obrestad, Vanessa Rousso are among the few. But gambling in general is not that much a big deal to be debated, it depends on the gambler when to stop and how to control his being a gambler.

Players have found that in many ways the online methods are just as enjoyable as those found in land-based casinos, while being infinitely more convenient and far less intimidating. There are numerous online casino games online where you can play for free. Most casinos will also allow you to 'test-run' games before making a deposit.

Why, do you know that psychologists say gamblers have no self control and are mentally incapacicated to stop themselves from gambling, pretty much like alcoholics or drug addicts?
