I suppose this could be classed as gambling, but with clues.

Basically pick a prize and make a bid on it.

The lowest UNIQUE amount wins that item.

One free bid there, but if you pay to make several bids you get clues as to where the winning amount is.

I had a go at winning a Mercedes CLK but was about £20 out. Can be a bit addictive, especially when you have a winning bid and then you get an email telling you that your bid has been matched by someone else ( therefore no longer unique )

yeah I got a bit carried away with the Barcrest one recently.. ended up being like 5p out and the amount I was thinking I should have done won it in the end.. not too much heart ache mind you as if I had of gone with it it would not have been unique anyway.

I'm lost on this one.

I'm looking at the site now and it advertises a Sony Bravia TV with an RRP of £1899.00, Lowest Unique Bid Wins, Closing Date 06/10/2006. Bid Cost £1.50

So if I bid £1456.00 and that is the lowest unique bid (ie no one else bids it) then I win?

What happens if every possible value betwen £1 and £1899.00 are bid by more than one person and therefore aren't unique? Surely no one will bid over the RRP so what happens to the prize? If people have paid to enter the competition they must be legally obliged to give it away?

Can anyone explain?

I've always wondered why no one just bids upto £1000... They're virtually gauranteed to win as i've never heard of an auction of this type going over £1000.

I suspect there's a limit of how many times you can bid

I saw an ad on the back of a weekend paper and it had examples of winning bids, one was a Mini Cooper S, that went for £72! Ive never bid myself but its incredible what people win.
