About time we revisited this thread maybe?

After a few years nothing has really emerged to challenge poker. Maybe poker's popularity is waning? But not dramatically.

I found craps to be an amazing fun game in Vegas and so have incorporated a home craps game after our home poker tournies. Less skill of course but some strategy and great fun. I commend it to you. For those that haven't tried it looks complex but is really quite simple.

Omaha. Id love to see Hi/Lo Omaha taking a step into the lime light. Thatd be really good for Poker i think, since at teh moment Omaha is really misunderstood.

Though saying that, films like 21 coming out are promoting the concept of BlackJack, but is there really going to be an audience for something which is so more luck based? Personally I think poker does well because youre playing players not the house. Anything where youre vs the house is going to be unpopular. Similarly anything luck based like BackGammon is gonna be unpopular too. You have the luck of the dice combined with strategy. With poker you dont play your cards you play the player. Thats unique.

I quite like hold'em blackjack. That's good fun. Only played it live, but I think you can play it online at betfred.

Willhill offer Holdem Blackjack. Ive only played it a little bit online but it seems stupidly easy. You just wait for blackjacks with a 10 showing in the first few levels and get stacked up.

I know this thread is centred on casino games, but I have to fight the corner for online bingo! Surely it's one of poker's biggest competitors in terms of sheer numbers of people playing online these days?... Anyone agree/disagree?

My bet would be on casinos become far more interactive, more 3D and more sociable

So, you would be able to walk around the casino, look at the individual slots, see the other players in the casino, look to see which machines have what jackpots...

Disagree!
I think we have our own stereotypical vision of bingo players, so I wont go there. I did play a few times (online) & did actually win one game, but the main problem is there is absolutely no skill involved; it's just a lottery and it gets very dull very quickly.

One new thing I have tried recently is Rummy and I think this could potentially be an alternative to poker as it is skill based but does not involve bluffing or being 'muscled out' of hands by players with huge wads.

Being skill it means all USA residents can play too, so the market is potentially massive!
