I ran a little illegal casino on the playground in the 4th grade. Got shut down after a few weeks but I was pulling in $5 to $10 a week which was higher then my allowance was.
So how old were you when you started to gamble? |

Soon as i could reach to put my pennies in the 2p pushers!! Also remember playing a £2.50 JP 2p play machine when i was about 10-12ish and some older kids helping me nudge in JP.
Used to make around £10-20/week for a couple of years around 12-13yo by buying big multipacks of choccy bars from the market and selling them at school!!! |

I started gambling when the family used to play Newmarket. I loved that game, i think we used to play something like 2p on the queen and 2p in the middle? might have been more than that as it was a very long time ago.
Then we used to play hearts in our school dinner break in pairs and me and my mate would devise this elaborate signalling system to try and tell the other what we had. Moved onto the Boys club where we would again play newmarket or a weird game involving pool balls and cards that was pretty good. This is all before i discovered the joys of dogs, horses and football betting in the bookies... Oh my this is a history lesson im reminding myself of here. |

I reckon I must have been about 6 or 7 when I started gambling. I use to play cards with some freinds and we'd all have a jar of pennies to bet with. I'm pretty sure it was some kind of draw poker, but can't be positive. (long time ago). Moving on a few years, by the time I was 13 I was betting a penny a point on rummy. When I got to 15 I was running a book on the football each week, and by the time I was legaly old enough to gamble properly....... lol, well we all know what happens to us then..........
