My tip for Euro 2004: Spain.

I can't imagine England getting past the quarter final, as if they win their group or finish runner up (more likely), they'll be facing Spain or Portugal.

Despite a promising display against the minnows of Iceland, I can't see them beating either of those teams.

Good lord. Greece. Who was the lucky mug who bet on Greece to win it? Certainly not me, I put my bucks on Portugal. Which, if I have my facts straight, was a good bet - hasn't every host nation won in the last such and such years?
On to qualifying for the cup. Think it's worth betting on Greece again? I don't... flash in the pan. I say bet the farm on the Czech republic.

An estimated £250,000,000? 8O That's crazy, though in it's own way awesome.

    ~ Bizarre,

I won! LOL! Of course, I was only betting on a small pot and just a day before the match so the odds are not "great".

My take is that not having a lot of goals doesn't necessarily translate into a boring game. I think the game was tight and exciting until at least midway of the second half when Portugal clearly knew that they were losing and collapsed.

I agree, the match was absolutely good to watch - a typical final game. And the number of goals does certainly not represent match quality - you won't see many finals with a lot of goals scored, and the matches are usually very exciting.

I too put my money on Portugal, and lost all previous winnings I had earned during the total tournament - such a shame...
