Is there a secret? So much to bet on yet it's so hard to know exactly what you're betting on. For instance, I have an inkling USA will still top the medal table but if China are big favourites then is it a hopeless bet?
I found a good gambling site - wwwchickendinner.co.uk - that has a few stats supporting my instincts but thought I'd try to see if anyone else had a strong opinion on the subject. I think the site is running with Betfair as they have some free bets on offer.
Anyway these are the articles I have found on there about it:
wwwchickendinner.co.uk/home/95103/most_golds_china_bid_to_end_usas_dominance.html
wwwchickendinner.co.uk/home/95620/most_golds_australia_fancied_to_be_best_of_the_res t.html
EDIT: I missed out the dots after the www's :$
bet on the first athlete to be thrown out to be a weightlifter, short odds though!
I have no doubt you could make a few quid on betfair with the in play thing on some events but not sure whether the liquidity would be sufficient for the most part.
I had a little gamble on Walter Dix to take a podium finish in the 100m - proved rather profitable.
I think it's just a case of looking for possible winners away from the favourites, because betting on the front runners usually proves less than successful and certainly not profitable in the long run.
