    Default World Snooker Championship 2006

I was looking at the betting on the world snooker championship 2006 on William Hill, and Ronnie O'Sullivan is the favourite priced at 2/1 (3.00). Does anyone else think that this price is a little short or is it just me?

Thats right dude, he was 1/12 @ the Grand Prix just gone, and he lost to John Higgins who was 4/1.

Ronnie isn't the same now, I think he's got 1 more championship under his belt and thats him packed up. He's also taking up American Pool too which would knacker his snooker precision up (I dont think it would, but most people do) depends how much pool instead of snooker he plays with moderate intervals.

Yup, I absolutely agree mate, don't get me wrong, I admire Ronnie to the max, I think he's one of the greatest players ever. He certainly has more natural talent than anyone in the game since Alex Higgins, but his consistency level is pretty low now-a-days, and nobody can say how he will perform from one day to the next.

He might walk in and wipe the floor with everybody, or he could get knocked out by the first person he plays.... so on this basis I think the price is way too short, and I will be looking elsewhere in the betting for some decent value.

I lost all respect for the guy when he started to throw his toys out of the pram after losing. Poor proffesional conduct.

The price of 2/1 is the usual bookies disgrace. Thank God for the betting exchanges!

Saying that, If people on Betfair are going to be looking to back Ronnie at 2/1 when the market opens I will be laying as much as I can.

With Ronnie being off form and 2/1, I will definately be looking for some decent value. Hendry seems too short at 8/1 as well. I don't fancy Stevens at 10/1 either. Williams is at 14/1, a little more tempting, but not my choice.

I like the look of 33/1 on Hunter and 50/1 on Ebdon. I'm also thinking of a couple of each way bets on Mc.Manus at 125/1 and Dott at 100/1.

My choices might not win me anything, but I like the prices on the players I have chosen, they are all pretty capable players, and have a decent chance.

Whats the odds on Shaun Murphy? Surely he must be worth a look at to repeat his feat of last year?

I actually had a couple of quid on Hunter to be Sports Personality of the year at 850/1 earlier this year as someone said that if he won a big tournament on the BBC after his treatment for Cancer, it would be a major story. Is that a mercenary way to look at things?

Anyway it doesnt matter now thanks to Freddie and the Aussies.

Murphy is currently priced at 9/1, which although seems to be a reasonable price, I think about 14/1 would be more realistic, which is why I havn't included him in my selections.

Yes there are fishy players at 5/10, you being a prime example.

Hendry is at 8/1. I think this is a pretty short price (personal opinion) as I don't think he has it in him to win it again, fantastic player in his prime, and still a great player, but I can't see that he can win it again.
