Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm new to all this. I'm playing fruit machines more and more and have been reading up on them. My question is, is it better to put coins in rather than notes? I'm guessing it is as this can tell you weather the machine is backing or not.

Whether your playing with coins or notes will not make any difference mate, 100% guaranteed.

It depends on which type of machine it is IMO.
If it's a £70 one, I think coins are better because like you say, you get a quicker idea of if the machine is full or not.
Of course, you still get the "tells" using notes - so it doesn't make a huge difference.
