    Default Rise and Shine

I was in my local Spoons last night at about 11.00 pm a little worse for wear on the alcohol front. Due to my beer goggles being rather large I went into "I can play anything and win" mode and started to play a Warped. The signs were not good, first few boards not offering the inner boards or even £4 or more on the cash, but beer goggles firmly in place I convinced myself it was going to pay the holy mother of all streaks.
My dilemma arose when some nice man who obviously had rather bigger beer goggles than me proceeded to throw a bottle at one of the bar staff. As he was with a few mates and the trouble could have easily got out of hand, the management saw fit to ring last orders at 11.15 and the pub was going to shut sharp 20 mins later.
So, £50 ish into a Warped that wasn't showing signs from the off and 20 mins play time left, well lets just say the odds didn't look pretty. Sure enough by the time I'd put about £120 through I heard the inevitable "can you make that your last pound mate" from the bar staff.
I asked him to switch the machine off straight away as there were more than a few interested lads hanging around by the quiz machine and I asked him what time they opened in the morning, to which the reply was 9.00 am.
Arse. Not being prepared to give up an investment of £120 I resigned myself to having to forego my one lie in of the week in favour of a fucking Games Media Warped. Now I fully expected to turn up and be the only person in the pub. How wrong could I be.
Most people don't have experience of a boozer at 9 in the morning so have no comparison to make, but as I arrived at about 9.10 I was surprised to see at least 10 people in there, most drinking alcohol, a few having breakfast (which looked bloody good to be honest). The bar tender had a mild look of surprise on his face when I entered and I proceeded to explain why I was in so early as he hadn't been working the night before but knows I play.
"That's why the Warped is full then" he said, and I asked him how he knew, thinking he'd played it himself, but it was just that he did the refills and obviously didn't need to top that one up, they refill on a daily basis which is something I didn't know.
Anyway, he took the piss when I ordered a hot chocolate and I started playing. First feature gives red Warped, fucking typical.... I know that's what I want but why couldn't it have done it last night ?
Anyway, it only gives a flat £35 so I would have been back anyway. That gets put back in and another £20 or so for another flat £35 red Warped. Same procedure again for another flat £35 red Warped and it's getting a little tedious now. My get out clause came just 2 boards after the 3rd red Warped, I get a normal Warped and yes, you guessed it, of course it carries on and gives a £45 which is followed 2 boards later by a £50 normal Warped. A few wind down wins and it's time to leave.
During this time a group of 15 or so lads have come in, clearly pissed up and aiming to continue, looks like they've had an all nighter having watched the fight so by the time I leave there are some 30 odd people in the pub at 10.00 in the morning, surreal.
The night before I was playing a Gold Rush (I seem to have a weak spot for trying to pull out the £105's on this breed of machine) which was showing good signs from the off but took the piss with the force. At one point I got a board which first move went straight to a question mark which gave 'survive' so thought great, an I.M. board. It sure appeared that way, cash offering the £15 and £35 and mysteries offering 'survive' if I landed on them, but I got down to the final gold rush (after turning it red) and the last gold nugget and it dumped me out of the inner board to a question mark and gave me game over. WTF ? First time I've ever had that.
Then it took the piss for another £40 or so before giving up the £105.
I played a Sub Zero by Red in another pub, fairly good for quick steals and mid range wins, which offered a red find the flake for a max win of a fiver whilst normal money mountain was offering £10-£15 every time. I take it that if you were ever going to force one of these then £10+ off normal features is a good sign, but I'd never take one on for the force anyway, it was interesting to note that even though the normal features were being more generous than usual, it wasn't offering predominantly red boards.
Still yet to see one of these new Monopoly cluedo/panther variants. Thought I'd stumbled across one the other day but it was just a sick clone of the new cops and robbers type DOND machine which sadly has replaced an On A Roll.

Yeah, I had a spare hour at dinner on Wednesday so played it then. You must have a big route though Eddie, as I recall mentions of places like the Owl and Pussycat, town center etc. Can't be bothered with town myself, too mad particularly this time of year.

I've played around Thurmaston/Syston for years, There was 3 power 5's in Syston that worked, the hobby horse was chipped fairly fast, the fox and hounds i got barred after the gaffer stood behind me with his arms folded, and the hope and anchor lasted about 2 months, the owl and pussycat has had some good stuff in over the years, FNC, daunting, pulsation, holy moley and a lucky strike i was emptying [along with about 200 others] have all been good earners.
