What's happened here?

I'm starting to wonder what the point of this forum is lately.

Someone posts a question, usually a new poster. (Fair enough)

But...

Someone posts an answer, fair enough again, but then someone (rudely IMO)posts exactly the same thing as what was just stated, worded differently straight after, so your left wondering what was the point of posting as all we get is about 5 posts all saying the same thing and disregarding the fact someone else has just said it.

The original thread starter dissapears and the only interest or follow up posts (were people actually DISCUSS someone else's post) is when they have criticism about their spelling or grammar.

It just feels a waste of time even bothering to type a post recently.

Unfortunately that is the very nature of many of these fora.
As you may already know, I am a regular visitor at many different ones and only a couple (well, just one actually) has a truly dynamic and interesting collection of good posts with active discussions.
Pretty much all the rest are exactly as you describe.

People visit these sites for information and a good discussion - but the latter is fairly hard to come by because only a small proportion of subjects are truly discussionworthy (is that a real word? )

However, I still find them worthwhile, if only for the great information which can be gained and the minority of topics which are worth a read & making an input to.
