Default Fruit Machine / Arcade Help

    Hello Everybody

Finally got aroung to signing up after being a long time regular lurker of these forums, never got around to signing up as I am not allowed to at work.

I have a friend of a friend who has had to repossess some machines after the bill for storing them wasn't being paid!

I have been and had a look at them and there are about 40+ machines, most of which are the old skool £5 jackpots...Hurricane, Monopoly etc etc Although it was alot to take in at the time, I think there were some bigger prize machines which didn't have a board or features

I was just looking to have maybe 1 or 2 of them but I think there could be a profit from having the lot and selling them on... But after the initial buzz of seeing the potential I have my doubts.

They all looked in ok condition but were covered in 2years worth of dust, do machines have a tendancy to brake or cease if not used for such long periods?

IF i find somewhere to store them how do I shift them? Do i need to get a special lorry with a drop down step? Or will a normal lorry do?

Not 100% sure if they had keys with them, are these easy/cheap to replace?

And... somebody worried me the other day saying that unless there were for personal use I would need a licence to sell them, is this true?

Sorry about the length of the post but if anybody has any help or information about the above I would be extremly grateful!

Hope to speak to you all soon

    Regards

    Echo

If they have been stood for 2 years chances are most of them wont work as the ROM batterys on the pcb's tend to oxydise, like most batterys do. And when they do you have acid on the board which causes probs as you can probably guess. Also the power units on the old machines tend to smoke alot when they have been stood a while and burn out. Coin mechs pack in aswell if in a cold or damp storage unit. They will go on a lorry without a tail lift aslong as you have about 3 strong men to lift them, but a tail lift would help. If you are looking to sell them individually i would test each machine, personally i would sell the lot as a job lot and let someone take their chance with them - that way if they nearly all, or maybe all of them dont work you have still made some money. If you e-mail me a list of all the machines i can maybe make you an offer and use the working parts in them, if any. E-mail address is stuart.robinson927@ntlworld.com.
