Newbie Guide?

Hi everyone, I'm new here.

I've always been a gambler and used to play the slots in my younger days, until I realised it is a mug's game unless you really know what you're doing.

I haven't played the slots for 7 years, and probably not looking to start again, but I am still intrgued as to how they work. I read a lot of posts on this forum, but I don't really understand the basic terminology and theories. Is there a newbie post out there that explains concepts such as forcing and dropping and explains how the machines work at a fundamental level?
