YES FOLKS...OCTOBER 27TH, interesting to see what happens.
I would doubt very much seeing many to start off with. The licences for these are currently in the S16 bracket so represent an astronomical rise in duty. Until Customs and Excise recatagorise them then I think too many operators will think it's too steep a price to pay at present.
I'd expect to see a rare few, perhaps in Bingo Halls and major arcade chains that can support the duty through their S16's, but the main flow will be bought when the duty band changes.
Look at it from an operators point of view..pay the same duty for a £35 machine or pay for a S16, which do you think would take the most in return?

Confucius finally add "man may deal, but man may not 'know' deal"
if thats the case then surerly no one will bother? a machine with an extra £10 on the jackpot is not really worth three times the duty.
im not sure on the exact figures but from what a can remember i think the duty for a £25 pot is £715 a year and the s16's are around £2000.
the only other thing that could cause problems with uprading machines is lazy programmers, i remeber when they first changed to £25 the new machines designed as £25 were fine but the first chips for some of our high techs soly changed the jackpots, all the fetures and streaks still played like the machine was £15.
my bet is the first machine out £35 jackpot will be a red gaming
army of ghosts
are they still gonna be 25/30p per play or is it an excuse to raise it to 50p??
it will be 50p a go
army of ghosts
£25 machines are 25p play so for an extra £10 the spin price doubles?? should be a £50 jackpot then really. Dont no if the 50p spins will appeal to many players especially not the part timers who put in their drink change! Think ill stear clear or my pockets will have to be exceedingly deeper..![]()
I welcome the news. The old barcrests were converted from 15 to 25 jackpot and a few glitches left in which meant pretty penny...
oh, and it's also xmas soon - These guys ALWAYS make a few "mistakes" just in time for christmas![]()
Indeed Alex, that is what we can all hope for. although I fear that as these take hold, say 3 years from now we will all have gotten used to a 2 JP streak as the norm and no more. We will all be remembering the days of multiple JP's and big top features,.....oh hang on that's now isn't it.
They are going to have to put some effort into reprogs though, they aren't just gonna let a top streak do a £105 instead of a £75. Magic 7's et al come to mind here.
I know there are going to be some nightmare stories in the pipeline.

i looked into the price at work yesterday, the duty on these is gonna be £1750.
asked my boss if we would get any, he said definatly not untill next aug, soon as were forced to cut down the s16s maybe try 1 or 2
