I was sat in a busy Wetherspoons tonight with the usual shower of shite machines between 9 and 11. Not 1 machine was played. The average punter is just sick to death of losing.
Some REDS can suck £10 in 2 minutes. That can pay your electric for 3 weeks!
BFG's machines are usually licenced ie. CORRY, LORD OF THE RINGS, hence play like bag of wank, probably to cover cost of licensing.
Found a Temple of Treasure- Barcrest the other day. What fun to play.
Austin Powers, King Kebabs were suberb fun, would at least take till next pay day to blow your money on them at least.
To save the AWP industry, its time to put the AMUSEMENT back into these machines.
Thank the Lord i am not an addict anymore!
ANYBODY ELSE FEEL FREE TO HAVE A RANT!!!
Good Luck. Jeff.
Yes, overall the scene is dire.
Red's with the mega spin option can take a tenner in under 30 seconds if you hold the start button down and it's dead.
Curiously, the last two times I've been into town the King Kebab has streaked off the first Jackpot. Once you know it's streaking it's so enjoyable just playing around with the boards knowing that you are going to get the top feature on mega, more than likely for a trueskill repeat. They don't make gameplay like that anymore. If you take a modern bfm the streak has no player control, no pissing around, it's usually just a case of bang start enough times to let the cash ladder climb out to the Jackpot or land on enough icons for a Mega streak.
Confucius say "man who know wombat know more than stupid looking monkey"
Confucius also say "man who know Kebab has 60 inch waist"
Confucius finally add "man may deal, but man may not 'know' deal"
What makes you say licensed machine play differently?
BFG make no money from sited machine, it's the pubs and distributors. A licensed machine will run to the percentage key the same as any other machine. No one slagged off LOTR when the superhold trick was there, same as the royal family trick. Machines are just generally tighter and crap these days. At least on a BFG you get a feature withing £5. Playing reds for £12 no feature then lose the first gamble is far more dire.
The trouble with all BFG machines is that they have 87 ways of paying the £3 block.

Most I ever put in a RED for a feature was £18- then died on first gamble wthout a win to collectOriginally Posted by SkillCash
- BFM aren't the best, but they aren't the worst either IMO, I agree with you.
I think what most people don't like about BFM is that they are unforcable the majority of the time, and that is the SOLE playing style of many players today.
Take BFM's Battleships,
1. Backing off 1st £1.
2. First board offers £14 in the cashpot.
How would you consider playing on from here?
From experience, even if playing well, you could force this all out and it could cost you another £40 to get a Mega Series, that could well go for a flat £25. You might get £10 in afters and probably end up down.
I've found that forcing a few more boards- get it offering good stuff frequently, then decide to collect on the next board on first mystery, regardless of max win offered. The bank you will build up by doing this will leave you very happy indeed 9/10. When playing like this, BFM's go almost into a mini streak- not of wins but value boards which just keep on comingYou get to like a bank of £30 and think that's it now only for it to go straight to super board next feature and offer another £6 in the cashpot, which may well repeat!
Feature within £5? I've easily put £10+ in a BFG for a board. If you've some savvy, you can work out when reds are sucking badly (loose rells, boosts etc...) and not get drawn into playing for a board. Old BFGs used to be forcable, new ones block at £10 and £15 forever, which ruins their appeal. Reds are the way forward.....Originally Posted by SkillCash

reels bounce on reds and like matt said the boosts come in and you get nothing. if the reel is stopping solid then its not on the rob (not always true) but after putting £5 in I suppose you might as well get the board now
Its only on loannnnnnn, its only on loaaannnnnn in Athens Grace will bring it back hommmmmmmmeeeee.

You know things are bad when players start reminiscing about King Kebabs and Austin Powers...
Now if you're getting nostalgic for playable machines, how about ,say Caesar's Palace or Big 50 or almost any other JPM / ACE from that era.
Go back a bit and there was CardCash,Cash Zones Barcode etc
All these machines could let even semi decent players rotate a tenner for hours on end, even on rechips...
I think we SHOULD reminisce about the old machines such as KK/BFU/AP now as slotters said back then we reminisced about the old ceasors palace etc.
I think the major factor of today is, forcing. Forcing is fast going out of the window, Reds/BFM's being the biggest players of today stopping the force, and i think barcrest mcs are following the same pattern.
Not much in machines today, so I'll pass on the subject, but we have to realise that times are changing, the change in eras from mpu3/mpu4 machines to mpu5 was a big change, even in gameplay, no such thing as 'barcode' anymore...
I give it about another 6 months then, we're seeing a new change in evolution of machines.
