Question Two Questions - advice please

    Hi there, nice forum,

    Two questions:

    1. Refill key - have got myself a key, not sure how useful it might be, but person who cut it for me said that many pubs/clubs/casinos have sensors linked up to the machines so if a key is used CCTV switches onto the machines and you will have any wins confiscated, you will be evicted and police possibly called. Have read that there is nothing illegal in using these keys, but really don't want to be caught doing anything dodgy. I have seen machines with notices on saying that have anti-tamper devices on them. Does anyone know if above is true?

    2. Secondly, I want to buy a secondhand machine, one that is pretty ubiquitos, so I can practise on it and get the hang of things. Basically, want a common machine so that when I have a go for real I'm going to be able to find one of them out and about.

I have had a few goes on Hill Billionaire with a bit of luck (still in profit, just), but have done search and people say that it is not the best machine for getting results on.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi Ian,

This is absolute bollocks dude, dont worry about this. CCTV switches onto the machines rofl? These keys are 100% legal, but that doesn't stop pubs/clubs from throwing you out or banning you. Casinos? You've got no chance... more camera's than chips in them places, i wouldn't bother getting up to anything in a casino.

Secondly, I usually get a new machine once every 3 months, the price will range dependant on how old the machine is and which manu. For example, a Hi-Flyer would cost me around £500, whilst a Jekyll & Hyde would set you back into 4 figure sums at around £2,500!

Best thing to do, is find a small private club somewhere, see what machines they have in, rent or purchase that same machine from a small supplier, uncle's ya bob!

    Enjoy

    Danny,

Thanks for the reply. When you say you go through a machine every 3 months, I assume that you part-ex your old machine for a new/2nd hand one. Is there much loss in value, assuming that I get a 2nd hand machine in the first place.

    Thanks

Yer thats right Ian, not much decrease in money back value, as its only a difference of 2-3 months, depends who you deal with, the supplier i deal with is only a small supplier, and know him pretty well, so he doesnt piss me about and vice versa! Watch out for the bigger companies, they will rip you apart!

Ian, a lot of machine operators are now using the MIDAS security system. This basically alerts the barstaff/management if the refill key is being used, which can have you caught red handed. Beware of this.....but refill keys are still not illegal to use (just frowned upon).

You can download and play old machines (up to 2000ish) for free from fruit-emu. If you wish to buy, ebay is always a great place. New machines will set you back £2000 or so, whereas machines from a few years ago (Vamps etc) should be £400 or so. They tend to depreciate quite quickly, so be prepared for this.

A good one to buy would be Vivids Pie Factory. Should be able to get one for £100-£125, and it plenty of fun for a starter. Mate had one for 8 months, actually sold it for a profit!

    Hope This Helps,

    Matt

Yeah I second that, ebay looks a great place to buy used fruit machines.

They are great as well because you can store all your profit in them and because it is in the hopper (mine is now full ) and cash box, it builds up pretty quickly!! Plus it isn't like having money round the house because you can't spend it as it is locked in the fruit machine- great little piggy bank

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm looking for a machine that's popular in pubs etc, so I can use what I learn at home to make money in the pubs. Is Pie Factory a popular machine still, I haven't really seen it around?

    jjh,

I was keen on getting Bully for You or one of its clones (as discussed in another thread), but looks like this could be quite expensive to buy. Still having trouble cracking it, forced it with £45 quid last night. Features were noticeably getting higher which I took as a good sign, was giving plenty of shots, multi adds and true skills, but highest feature it was giving was On the Oche. Kept knocking it back.

Then machine went dead, was killing me off really quickly with low features. Kinda got the impression it was saying sod you, I've been offering you something half decent and you are not taking it, so you're getting nothing. Obviously doesn't think for itself as such, but was frustrating. Also it was backing, but I wonder whether it had just been refilled.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

New machines such ahs Bully will probably set you back a good £1000 odd, so they just aren't wort buying.

As for the force, just plough on. It never usually costs more than £70 odd (at worst), and you'll be less down taking DM rather than taking a mid feature (many of which are crap anyway). What was the machine like from the off? You really need to force these from £4+, and ideally around £7 in the cashpot. On The Oche isn't a good feature, and if it was only offering that from £45 in, you've forced it from too early.

I've had the pleasure of foricng one from Good Times, which cost about £15, then went for £50 on DM.

Just take enough money, and keep on with it. Practice makes perfect!

    Matt,

When you say what was it like from the off and did it start from £4+, do you mean:

    1. When I first hit the feature board or cash trail, it goes straight to £4 or Good Times

    OR

    2. The first board allows you to work up to £4 or Good Times before it kills you.

I have read on here about people saying that if you first enter the board at £2 or £5, and was wondering which of the two options above they mean?

    Thanks

to be fair, having trained as a CCTV engineer, I know that it is perfectly possible for a security camera to zoom in on a certain location when it is given some sort of a trigger (i.e. someone turning a key or opening a door) but it is relatively advanced stuff and you'll probably find that only the more reputable establishments will deploy this technology. I have never seen or installed such a system, all i am saying is that it would be possible.

in terms of looking to buy a fruit machine, i seem to see alot of the "Deal or No Deal" machines around these days. Its a good game and has a good feature.
