Been playing constantly for 38 years!
Back in 1968 you could still find the old original bell fruit gum machines and the like from the early 1900's at fairs.
Used to pay 10 or 12 old pennies as jackpot. Some were bought from the usa and had the windows at the front where the jackpot used to collect.
Pub machines paid 5 bob or 25p in tokens.
A bit later, when Bally machines were everywhere I found one that kept holding on Jackpot,£2.50 was a lot for a young lad in 1972!
The old bandits used to go wrong all the time, you could usually find one on free play to empty.
Later still the first nudge machines came in,around 1976.Jackpot had gone up to 40p by then.
Once found a super nudge gambler at Butlins Skegness that held 26 times on 50p!This was in 1979,so a tidy sum.
Also won the £50 jackpot on a legion club machine in 1978,a small fortune then.
Happy days.
i have been playing fruities since i was about 10 years old so thats 8 years
Living on the coast i've always been around arcades since the age of 5.
First time i played properly though was when on holiday in whitley bay in 2000, a row of 2p/£3 spotlight/searchlights, so i guess 6 years, and been playing at varying levels ever since.
Too Long !!!
Played the "traditional" one armed bandits since 1970's, progressed to the 10p a go Nudge machines of the late 70's and early eighties and downhill from there on.
Nowadays i tend to stick to £4K j/p casino puggies as saves time in life as they take your money even quicker !!!
