Default Mr Gloves' jolly day out

Half term again, so I opt for my usual full day stint in the arcades just for 'old times sake'.
My usual haunt has two sites, about 5 mins walk from each other, I arrive at site 1 at 10am and proceed to my usual 1st machine, a chuzzy bar x which is usually a good banker. Anyways, £80 in not full and no positive signs so I collect the £70 bank. It's top up day so someone has been in nice 'n' early for this methinks. I try a few magics and bar x's with £3 but they're all obviously not early risers like myself. I move unusally quickly to site 2 after about 45 mins as I just didn't have the right feeling about site 1.
Site 2 is bigger and has more variety. There are already some middle aged women installed for the day on some Bar x 7's with signs on their backs that read "come anywhere near this machine and I'll shoot you" or "I'm going to the bank 5 more times so don't get your hopes up".
I play some dead versions with the odd £3. Nothing brewing at present. I then venture onto the golden games. A little risky without knowing the history but what the hell, it's half term..let's party.
Well, err £90 in and still no top board of a flash hold. Not full at the £120 mark either. Shit bollocks piss wank I think. Now the weird thing is that is has been offering nudged top boards off say 1 nudge or dropping in the freebie board a little too many times for my liking. I smell a rechip. Eventually when I do get a flash hold after a nudge it lets me have 2 0f these, each for a fiver before winking the x (autonudge) for a £25. I know this is the time to leave, but so much in I plough on. I battle through the next 20 mins to get it to the next flash hold sequence, nothing juicy inbetween and I again get only 2 flash holds for a fiver before it flash nudges for a flat £25 again. Very frustrating. It then drops the third bar after a hold and I cut my losses. Never seen one act so weird.
A half comotose Magic 7 begrudgingly gives up just the one Jackpot which drops in.Time to hit the hi tecs to kill some time.
Never mind the Jumping jack flashy type machines (two of) are both showing £3 boards for a tenner so no joy there. Unusally an old couple are playing a vamp and are collecting mid wins every board. I force an Extreme - Jolly Roger is it ? 3 chests for top feature. It costs £55 and streaks for £30. It's then I remember that this doesn't have to do the full £50 or £75 like ir's top board note type brothers ala Jack and the Beanstreak.
So it's gone dinner time and I'm not exactly in a financial position to retire.
Throwing all caution to the wind I play a s16. It's a poker based game which I actually quite like. I've spoken about it before, there are side games where you can find the ace for anything from £2 to £250. Hi/lo 5 cards for similar amounts. I play because since my last visit, they have installed some extra hardware that links my machine with two other machines, a Haunted House and a Japanese themed one I forget the name of to a series of 3 Jackpots not unlike Rainbow Riches. I play my card game for about 20 mins. Best result so far is a full house for £50 on a more daring stake. It then goes into this new feature which operates around the pots on the meters above the machines. It's like a pick a square from three type option and reveal a jewel etc. You move up 5 columns doing the same and whatever you get the most of at the end you get awarded a prize. I notice that it is possible to get just one jewel for a tenner so prepare myself for the worst. No, I het 5 jewels for the middle pot which is at £206 quid. Bargain.
Enthused by my s16 luck I move onto the haunted house. £2 a spin will suffice. What are the odds of getting 3 haunted house features back to back ? Well it happened and I made about £100 profit. An 8 liner also gave up a quick ton thanks to two sets of well placed bars on max stake.
So the irony is that I'm now in profit due to an hours play of s16's after 3 hrs slogging at the usual machines.
I venture back to site 1 which is still empty. Miss the boat on one Magic 7 which goes off its nuts after £3 in. I play a winning spins 3 player and hit a lucky £75 off the first top feature. I get involved with the middle position machine which is full but not giving anything up just yet. Before I know it I hear "last credits please" and a look at my watch tells me it's nearly 8pm.
Shit, where did that go? Anyway, all said and told I'm £60 up on the day. Not great but it could have been a lot worse.
I've now got £270 pound coins so will do my usual thing of changing £20 at the bar of each pub we go in tonight and buying the drinks in the same currency and hopefully scoring on the fruity at the same time to keep the pound coins coming but swelling the paper currency at the same time.
Highlight of the day ? Seeing a chav who had spent half an hour Physically and verbally abusing the Vamp go arse over tit on a stool when he pushed back from the machine a little too hard during one of his tantrums. Who says pensioners can't play Barcrests ?

Confucius also say "man who know Kebab has 60 inch waist"
Confucius finally add "man may deal, but man may not 'know' deal"

That must have been so so funny. It was like the Vamp was getting its own back
Any time you aggressively play seven deuce off suit, the universe will bend the laws of short term probability in order to re-balance the long term probability abuses by those trashy players who only play premium hands

Ahh my nemesis machine the 'delightful' CMS Haunted House.
Yes, this machine has a 'habit' of giving 3 features close together, two of which are often back to back. The way I tend to play this is start on £2 / spin. If you get a haunted house feature and it gives you at least £50, not the usual £25 - 30 or so then I always whack the stake up to £4 / spin. (The higher the original stake. the more £5, £10 and £25 windows you get if you get the feature). IF the machine drops in the feature the next spin then you'll get a usual minimum of £90 but can do £150+. If it doesn't drop the feature it may start throwing in good wins on the lines. Obviously if it does neither, drop you stake back down / walk off sharpish. However, if it does drop the second feature / give good reel wins then be really brave and slap up the stake further to £5 / £6 / £8 / £10 per spin depending on how brave you are feeling. On £8 / £10 spin if it gives you the third house feature then you should get £220 - £280 and it can then go on and give lots of high reel based wins.
For a random machine it happens surprisingly often and if you are lucky it pays between £550 and £850. Most of the people I know who play this machine regularly adopt the same 'method'. Of course for every time it does pay off there are a number of occasions it doesn't and you are left losing money extra quick on expensive stakes!!
