Hi Folks,
As someone who is only an occasional arcade player I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on which Bar X single player machine to play.
I usually play in a Quicksilver arcade in North London and tend to stick to a machine called Magic 7.
However there are several other Bar X machines such as Magic 10, Bar 7even, Classic Slot and OXO reels – can anyone tell me what the main difference is between these machines and which is the best?
Thanks.
Are you a chain smoking pensioner spending the last of their offsprings inheritance in these damn machines? Cough! Cough! Tea or Coffee?![]()
They are actually playable (as such) but risky. I normally play magics if any.
OXO Reels is truely dire. Far too many small unavoidable wins (£1-3) making the decent streaks further apart. It also has a diabolically harsh sucking period that can just go on and on. Don't even try to play through it. However, when it does finally go.................Grandma in an arcade I was playing in last week wiped £185.
Would agree though, for some reason Magic7 always seems more generous than BarX7 or Magic 10's. There's a number of different chips that can be seen working in all three of these Electrocoin suckers, but it seems in the places I play the Magic10's have the meanest chip - and by that I don't mean shittest %, I mean toughest style of play. They really can rob mercilessly even when full on day 7 of a weekly fillup cycle. But then again, when they do go off on one you can easily wipe £200 - £250 off a lazy extended streak off around £25 - 30 in credits.
Deep pockets and full on 'shark the granny' mode required for best chance of turning a return
Thanks for that gb74 - As it goes they've just put one of those 3 player OXO Reels in one of the arcades that I play locally.
I thinks I'll stick to Magic7 and the occasional mad 20 quid in Magic10.
The best streak I've ever had was around 170 off a Magic7.
I'm also getting into those videopoker machines called MagicGames which can go for fairly big streaks and seem to give good value in terms of entertainment.
Those magic games can be good for more than entertainment hey
p.s i asked this before but got no reply, does anyone know how much they hold?
There is a new bar x in my local regency lesuire, by bell fruits.
It has been quite good on occasions.
I had a JP Bar come up, and it held, span another in and held, 3 goes later another 2 it was an amazing win for a fiver
Tis what dreams are made of.
Sounds like a chuzzied up chuzzy type thing.Originally Posted by Obey69r

As mentioned above, these machines are often stereotyped with the blue rinse brigade, and once upon a time that was true because you really could only just hit and hope.
The advent of bar x clones in the last 5 years or so has revolutionised exactly which genre plays them quite a lot. To the untrained player, they are mindless boring experiences. Granted, you do have to a certain mindset to play them but they can reap considerable rewards if you know your stuff. What do I mean by if you know your stuff ?
Well, you can tell between any and all of the following after the press of a few credits, or just by looking at the machine:
Machines that are just hit and hope with the standard nudge win/hold after nudge win-being aware of the 'ladder' type profiles these have.
Machines that nudge twice i.e. 2 sets of 3 nudges, sometimes 3 sets of 3 nudges.
Machines that hold for a win and nudge for a win all the time e.g. Magics and the like, and being aware of setups and win frequencies to know when to stay or walk.
Machines with features that are activated by certain reel combinations being held - classic slots - chuzzy chip bar x's. There's even a Magic 10 style program for the Electrocoin bar x where the O's pay a win although it's not indicated on the decals.
Machines that can flash nudge and manipulation of those flash nudges when the circumstances are right.
Pot orientated machines like Golden Games, understanding these and chip versions they are running is vital.
Machines generally not to get involved with..mostly Party Times + clones.
I've really only touched the surface, if you count other lo tecs such as Pure Madness, Crazy Fruits then you have even more signs to look for.
I play lo tecs almost 100% of the time in an arcade, the hi tecs squatting in the corner just don't cut it anymore in terms of profit or time/effort needed on them. I never see a hi tec dump £200 on a streak but you've plenty of lo tecs to choose from which are capable of that.
