THIEVES WHO TARGETED FRUIT MACHINES ARE IDENTIFIED
POLICE have identified two men who targeted fruit machines in pubs using a device to empty them of money.
The men, from England, used the device to interfere with the mechanics of fruit machines in two pubs in Port St Mary. They arrived in the Island on January 19 and returned to England the next day. Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen them.

They are described as white, aged between 25 and 40 and of large build. The younger man has brown hair and was seen wearing a dark-coloured donkey jacket and grey trousers. The older man has a bald head and was seen wearing a dark blue jumper.

Constable Craig Taylor, of Port Erin police, said they may have taken as much as £400 from each machine and could have visited other pubs in the area.

He said: 'We have spoken to our colleagues in the UK and we are confident we have identified them. They do make a habit of travelling up and down the UK targeting fruit machines — that's what they do.'

He added: 'We believe the device used was either electronic waves, to jam a machine's memory, or a spatula-style scoop rod put into the collection tray and used to make the machine pay out.'

Anyone with information should contact Port Erin police station on 832222.

Alot of people go to the Isle of Man with the '2.00 bars' as there is alot of (Pre 2002) older cabinets.

There was a main arcade with around 150 really old machines and degenerate staff, that place was getting 'hit' royally. Shut down to build apartments...

Operators on the Isle of Man are right tight arses, hence, as Escobar says, there still being a lot of older cabinets around that are vulnerable to attack.

Moreover, 'cause the IOM is a pretty quiet, crime free sort of place, our fruities tend not to have any of the extra padlocks and bars and all that shit on them that UK fruities generally have.

Must be bad near to me, all the pubs have at least 3 Armed Chavs guarding the machine or keeping it under survalance from within the room....i think they must be employed by the bars.
