    I don't get all these GA/AA meetings...

What's the first thing you do when you go in? Tell them your name! What's the point eh!

Seriously though anfield, if you feel that's whats needed then go for it.
I'm one of the lucky ones so to speak, in that i can be quite controlled and disciplined most of the time.....been playing nearly 10 years now (i'm only 20)and i now know how damn hard it is to stop. If your gambling the only money you have, then maybe a trip to GA will turn a corner for you.
Through experience and knowledge comes wisdom. Or something like that.

    Regards

    Matt

Yeah, to be honest, I think most of us on this site could do with a trip to at least one of these meetings, open all our eyes a little bit. They can only help. Not trying to make this a laughing matter but on a lighter note, did the guy that your mate spoke to about YDD have any useful information?? lol
MattB, did you say that you have been gambling since the age of 10? lol, that is crazy mate! what were you doing at that age, surely you didn't have much access to machines at that age?

Yep, since i was about 10. Started playing them when the parents took us to the coast (for me thats Felixstowe/Hunstanton/Clacton/Gt.Yarmouth).
Would only get £1/£2 obviously, and would invest that into tuppenny nudgers, lite a nudges, each way nudgers, each way shuffles and double up deluxes. Basically any JPM nudge machine.
I remember once making about £15 and thinking i'd won the lottery!

The rest as they say is history
Now that i have hundreds available to me in my student loan i can do what i want which is pretty good......can usually make some decent profits in the middle of town too. The only thing i'm not looking forward to is paying back the £14,000 i'm going to owe by the end of june!

Whats York like for m/c's Matt? I'm over at Lancaster Uni, the scene is not great just now,(much better back home) though Lancs go through stages, just before xmas hols, had a good run of machines, plenty AFU's, SRM's. Doc's & Nurses were in abundance as well, but know its going through a slump. Though we got a Bling Bling (new Red Gaming) now. A fellow gambler down South has informed me that there is an emptier on it, doesn't know what it is exactly, but gave me the info that he had, so been hitting that quite a bit. It gets ragged in the Wethers here as well. York any good? You found its helped you through Uni?

good luck anfield. its a nasty game when you dont have the info, discipline, skills or just good machines to play on..

if you cant afford to lose its worse.

my mate is a doctor, makes 60k a year and pisses it away in local casino so he's poor 3 weeks of the month. makes me sick.

let us know how u get on, and pop back to say hi if you do get your monkey off your back.

Cheerz, but part of the problem is for example,

When or If I quit say I was in a pub having a few drinks game a pool etc and seen a Nuns N Roses give a SSS to someone who missed and hit £2.50 took it and left.

I would have to go on it knowing im virtually guarenteed to win £15+ even a streak, then I reckon I would get back into the swing of gambling

I think there is different types of gambling addiction. I enjoy a bet on most things, but it is only fruit machines that I would say I am addicted too.

Some days, if I'm up a few quid, I can happily walk away knowing i'm up a few quid, with my night out paid for.

Alternatively, if i'm on a bad running, in most cases under the influence of alcohol, I just can't stop. There isn't a chance I will walk away 30 notes down, its all or nothing. I will either claw it back and win some, or lose a shed load.

For the last few months I have made some rules re: my gambling. They are basically, only go gambling if I'm prepared - ie, sober, and a decent float, with a good choice of machines on offer.
