Well every time I am in the pub with me mates and having a chat etc I am always looking at the machine to see if its worth playing on.

I every thursday will get the bus down to my local William Hill and put £25 on the board of the Roullette hoping to get a £35-£50 win come in.

If it loses back home and skint, if it wins off to force the 2 YDD we have around here.

but what else I say to myself can I do with that £20? but I know I will have an extra £20 beer money for the weekend if I save it
Its only on loannnnnnn, its only on loaaannnnnn in Athens Grace will bring it back hommmmmmmmeeeee.

Hmm, you sound like you've got it bad.
Just like a lot of internet fruit machine experts, you're really a hopeless addict without an ounce of self-discipline.

    Does that seem harsh?

Probably not as harsh as spending the rest of your life hanging out in bookies with a bunch of pathetic losers.

I guess most of the members here dream of making a living from playing machines, or they've already tried to live that dream and seen it turn sour.

To be honest,it doesn't matter how much discipline you've got or how determined to 'beat the odds' you are,if you spend your life in and around gambling you will eventually come to grief.

The only way to avoid getting addicted is not to start.

Next best thing is to avoid all the places where you might be tempted to gamble - arcades, bookies and pubs full of AWPs.

With luck{!} you'll eventually get it out of your system.

I played machines full time for a few years, made a reasonable living,of sorts, but I finally realised I had to give it up before it gave me up.

Playing pro is too much effort for too little reward.

Even if you make £1k a week it isn't worth it in the long run, especially not now, with 'safe' machines growing rarer every day and lethally addictive new ones taking their place.

    Get out now,while you can.

This thread has been an interesting read! I thought I was honestly addicted to fruit machines about a year ago, but thinigs have calmed down a lot thankfully.

I can really understand you Anfield when you talk about machines worth playing. If I see someone lose an £8 win on a YDD for example then leave it, I feel compelled to play it as if I don't I'll be losing profit!! Fortunetely I no longer take £ coins out with me unless I am doing a quick round- although last week before I went the pub with my mates, I went an hour early with £50 coins did the bandit, made £20 odd took it up home then went the pub with just 2 £10 notes and never gambled again all night!

Luckily for me, although I am slightly addicted to fruit machines (if I'm really tanked up or something ), I don't go into casino's or arcades, neither do I go out and gamble all day, apart from once a week when I make profit on a couple of machines I understand, and this thankfully quenches my thirst to gamble on them. But I have to admit, I was losing a lot about a year ago on them, this site has actually helped me play them a lot better!

Very true about "missing out on an easy profit" JJH.

My local had an abradabra, and now a getting ziggy with it (is that whats its called?!), anyway, the machine is always placed next to the family bar area. People get their drinks, put their 3 quid change in their, often lose, and I think to myself

"It won't cost me more than 2quid for a board, even if if its being tight, I can probably snatch 3 back, no lose"

And usually this is the case.

Its at the end of the night, when pissed, I will try and force, knowing it will never happen, and end up loosing.

Thankfully, i've stuck to my new years resolution of no fruit-machines when pissed

Very hard to gamble when pissed as you often miss things on the machine and result in losing.

As for the Getting Ziggy I always see people in our local play it and realise well I can get a board off £2 and get £3-4 back.

Then I just lose the £8 rip to a board and have to force and go skint.

The thing is,I haven't really played for over a year now.

Once I got out of the habit, I realised just how badly it had me gripped in the past.

I can see from comments above that some of you guys are still too involved to see what you're doing rationally and objectively.
